Former LSU QB Jarrett Lee says booing 'takes a toll on you'

This past week, many fans said they were booing Coach Miles, not Jennings, for leaving Jennings in the game. What's your take on that?
"I think that's probably true. I think that is the case. But as a player, you don't know that. You're coming off the field, you just made a mistake and it seems like they're booing you. Like I said, it takes a toll on you," Lee said.
How does booing affect your performance?
"As you mature as a player, you get thick-skinned. You learn how to take it. As a young player, once you hear those boos, you start to make mistakes. You start to press. And, that just causes more problems," Lee added.
Did that happen to Anthony Jennings?
"I think from experience, he kind of felt the pressure. He kind of felt like he needed to press and make some throws he's not used to doing. When you start to do that, you start to press and I feel that's what happened to him," Lee replied.
You guys devote so much time and work. To get booed has to be frustrating from that angle alone?
"You prepare for these moments your whole life. That's why you come to this school. You're proud. You don't go out and throw interceptions on purpose or are trying to fumble. They happen and you learn from that," Lee explained.

Yes. No way that players can tell that the boos are for the coaches. These players bleed purple and gold. They don't deserve to get shite from fans

After setting records for both picks (16) and pick 6's (7) thrown in 8 games, I would say that man knows that feel. 2 picks and nearly one pick 6 PER GAME. He also ranked 2nd behind only Hodson for completions/yards/TDs for a freshman QB in LSU history. That should put things into prospective for both Jennings and the rantards. Jennings will be a quality back up when called upon going forward.

I love the standard responses you get on here when people get confronted about booing kids.
1. I'm not booing the kid, I'm booing the coach (like the kid knows that)
2. I pay good money and I should be able to show my displeasure at a subpar product on the field. (This advocates the notion that those kids are there to entertain you and not only entertain you, but entertain you to your sometimes unreasonable expectations. Like these kids are gladiators)
3. I'm trying to make the coach change his mind through the only means I have at my disposal. (Again, this assumes that your opinion caries a weight that it, in reality, doesn't. )

Lee is right. Tiger fans should take heed.

And sign with a school where the fans aren't so fickle. Brilliant plan. And before someone points out that it happens everywhere, it probably does. But few fans will turn on a kid like LSU fans will.
I'll put up with high prices, traffic, mistakes on the field, questionable decisions by the coaching staff. Win or lose, I'll be there til the clock hits 0:00. But the one thing that can really make a game unenjoyable is my fellow "fans."

I think a lot of the boos Lee received were intended for him. Like when he sucked against La Tech.
Some guys need time to develop and adjust and other guy's game transitions very well. You never know who is really ready until you see them out there. That being said, Lee is living proof that you can make those adjustments and learn from your mistakes.

Luckily, LSU is going to a much less hostile venue Saturday.
