If a QB scrambles and gains 1 inch shy of a yard, does it count as a sack?

As long as he is past the LOS, it isn't a sack.

The rule says that if he is tackled for no gain it is a sack. If he gains just shy of a yard, does it go down as no gain?

Yea.... I dont understand. Yards dont really matter so much.

There is a line of scrimmage. Things happen in front of and behind it

I'm asking because ponder was clearly tackled about a yard past the LOS and Green Bay was credited with a sack.

I'd understand if this were a MNf game, but it's only Thursday

Do you think that last one was behind the LOS?

Well that is dead wrong.

Guess they are still using the stat company that said this was forward

You're fantasy team must really suck if you're losing sleep over Christian Ponder getting sacked or not.

Do you have the rule link?

Wiki says it can be for zero yards but also has to be behind the line of scrimmage... Which is what most already knew lol.

if the QB doesn't get the ball beyond the LOS it is a sack.

Back in the Dome Patrol days the Saints were approaching or had the NFL record for consecutive games with atleast one sack. The Monday after a loss (maybe 49ers) without a sack, the Saints got credit for a sack.

The 49ers QB ran out of bounds at the 20 on first down, the ball was spotted for 2nd down on the 20 yard line. The previous play had been a touchback. The Saints were given credit for the sack and the streak continued.
