Just got back from trout fishing on the White River in Arkansas. This was my first time trying to trout fish. Took a few days to figure them out but we limited out 3 of the 5 days.

pic with the bridge is Cotter, Ark. The others are the access point called Wildcat which is near Bull Shoals and Buffalo City.

Beautiful country up there, it's hard to believe that it's only one state north of us.

no floating this trip. we are pretty novice with float trips and the current on the White River can get real nasty at times when they release water from the dam during the day. Not to mention that the water is right about 52 degrees and deep. You fall in, you might not get out. I'll swim in the Buffalo river all day, but the white river is just nasty cold. I'll go about knee deep in the white.

we just fished from the access points this year. Next year we will save money to use a guide. Gonna try to learn to fly fish this year also.

Went through Calico Rock on the 29th and the White River was really low but I saw on the net today that the water level at the gauge was about 8 feet, which is really high.

We used to go up to Gaston's on the White River almost every Thanksgiving if the weather was nice.

Man I love that whole area. We go up to the Buffalo River at least once a year.

Yep. I highly recommend the area for a vacation/fishing trip.

I was up there on the 17th -21st and stayed in a house on wildcat and fished wildcat the whole time we were there.

We didn't kill them but we definitely catch a bunch of fish. About 4 years ago we were up there and absolutely killed them. 3 of us had over 100 fish between us in just a few hours.

It is an amazing fishery. This time I caught a 22in brown that was probably around 4-5lbs and another that was around 20in and 3lbs.

I'll get some pics of those two.

Here is the bigger of the two:

ETA: These were all caught on a flyrod.

See if it's fixed. Tried posting pic from my phone and it wasn't acting quite right.

Should be fixed now.
