Rescued this Boxer today. I picked him up in the hood in Jackson. He was sitting on the steps of an old church for several weeks. Someone who worked nearby noticed him and fed him every day before putting a listing on Craig's List seeking help for him. He is a Brindle Boxer. Very friendly. Jumped right in car and went to sleep on floorboard. Looking to find a home for him.

He is scratching his skin.... alot. Fur is thin and filled with dry patches. Vet gave him full checkup, round of shots, and a steroid shot as well as antibiotic for the skin. He received a medicated bath as well and is acting a little happier and friskier. Just one problem: Heartworm positive. He needs to undergo a full regimen of heartworm treatment. Vet said his teeth were fine and he is between 3 and 5 years old. Email me at kingfish1935@gmail.com. Has typical Boxer temperament. He is a very good dog. Responds well to a leash and has been snipped. $200 to adopt. Thats what the vet bill costs for shots and tests today.

Actually spent more than that. Have the receipts to prove it. Doesn't include the first round of Doxyclene they started him on today.

That's about what most reputable no kill shelters charge. Nothing wrong with that.

If anyone thinks this is a rip off, they are a moron. OP has spent money on this dog, and he sure as hell isn't charging you a price that takes into account the time he has spent dealing with this.

Good ole half-calfs

Talk to some of the boxer breeders in your area. Not all will help, but it's worth a try. I know the place I got my dog from puts up adoption ads for people that don't want to wait 6-12 months on a waiting list

Cheers to you for picking him up and getting vet care. You're a good man, or woman
