I have about 150# of wheat and 100# of oats left from last year. Think it's still good?

I'd plant it. Probably wont get as good of germination rate as you would have gotten last year so sow it a little heavy. Or maybe mix in some new seed depending on size of your plots.

If I was to put hard numbers on a guess, I'd say...

1st year, 92%+ germination rate.
2nd year, 65% germination rate.
3rd year, less than 50% germination rate.

It's not worth fooling with after that.

In any event, it's not doing any good sitting in storage. Put it out somewhere.

what if I kept it in a refrigerator? I had 50 lbs I put in the fridge in the shop. will the germination rate be any better?

Going to plant it regardless, just wondering if y'all thought it might need extra help getting it to grow

Take approx. 100 seeds and place in a damp paper towel (keep damp) and place on window seal where sun shines on it for at least a lil while or keep it outside (something to warm it up a little during the day). After several days you can tell what your approx. germination rate will be by the number sprouted.

You will loose a decent percentage being it got hot continuously but may not be that bad. Should still be well over 50%, but this will let you know how heavy to plant it as well as verifying it is still good.

Should not have lost much of your germination percentage at all as long as it stayed dry as well. maybe 5-7 % off of what it was.

Yep but it has changed several times in the last week. We planted some more spots last Thursday because it was a good chance & hadn't got nothing yet
