Kickstarter LINK

Chromecast competitor for a cheaper price

quote:

Matchstick is a small, WiFi-connected HDMI stick that plugs into your HDTV or HD Monitor that lets you stream and interact with your favorite stuff from the Internet - movies, TV, music, games, and more! You can even use it in a conference room to get presentations or other media from your laptop to an HDTV.

Looks like it works with Spotify too which would be a benefit over Chromecast as of now

I wish I could find one of these that just put my fricking desktop on the screen without having to run an HDMI cable. doesn't this, as well as chromecast just display media that you are playing in an app?
