Really good show. Love how Marcus knows what's good and what's bad right when he sees it, and isn't scared to call it what it is.

There's some real stubborn people and low-lifes on his show though.

I'm afraid they are intentionally picking crazier and crazier business owners and the show will suffer in quality because he can't get any deals done.

Agreed. The trailer company where the exes still co-owned and ran it was a trainwreck from the start. He had been there for 4 months before asking to see financial statements, which I think it utter bs. I did not think this show would resort to those sorts of tricks.

Also, he was way off on his understanding of the toy business, and he basically renovated that company's building and bought them new equipment and walked away with nothing to show for it.

I just find both scenarios hard to believe.

2 episodes this season seem contradictory.

In the meat business episode he was glad one of the workers was sharing the word about the new hamburger line coming out.

Then in the wine bar/market episode, he got pissed that that new worker took initiative talking about the updates to the store.

I don't get the difference.

I want to see a new reality show that consists of status updates on businesses that have been rescued by other reality shows.

How many restaurants have closed within a year of Gordon Ramsey strolling in to cuss everyone out and trash their menus?

How many of the Profit's businesses are making a profit?

This would work, but even being on these shows will give these businesses, locations, and products a lot of publicity to make money well into the future.

I have two points to make here regarding this:

1. These shows provide updates within the show on later episodes. On Kitchen Nightmares, of which I have seen nearly every episode, they "re-visit" a number of old restaurants once or twice a season. Multiple times the restaurant is closed when Ramsay returns. The Profit also provides an update on some businesses that he actually invests in, such as the thriving success of Auto King.

2. Both guys are going into failing businesses, with the issue most often being a terrible owner that has no business owning a restaurant or should have retired a long time ago. Both Marcus and Gordon try to work on the owner's management ability and attitude, Ramsay more-so than Marcus, while also improving processes. But they only have a short time with these guys and it is difficult to completely change someone in that short of a time. Marcus walks away if he sees the person cannot change or cannot be worked around. Ramsay does his best, but the owners nearly always revert back to their old ways and attitude that brought they companies to the brink of failure. As a result, Ramsay's success rate is only 20% in terms of the restaurant still being around a year later or so, but that is not bad at all considering 100% of the companies would fail without his consultation.
