Some of y'all are going to call me crazy, but I liked college football Bowl season pre-BCS era better then BCS era to now.

Before the BCS era, there could have been up to four bowl games with national contentions on the line.

After the BCS era started and now, it's all about one game, and the bowls don't mean shite now.

What is the difference between now and pre-BCS era? Human polls still decide who is going to play.

College football was about winning your conference and getting a New Years Day Bowl game.

Now, if they went to a true playoff system with all major conference champions and some at large bids, I may get on board with it.

no

that shite was awful

aside from the Big 10/Pac 12 Rose Bowl games conference champs rarely met.

the playoff needs more than 4 teams but this is a huge step in teh right direction.

I wouldn't go back, but I kind of miss the days when a crazy New Years Day could propel a #4 or 5 to the top.

No, no, no ,no ,no, no no no no no

Undefeated USC would be in the Rose Bowl. Undefeated Oklahoma would be in the Fiesta Bowl. Undefeated Auburn would be in Sugar Bowl. None of them would play each other.

The '97 year ruined it. Michigan and Nebraska needed to square off.

I know at least one #4 jumped to #1 after NYD, but when did a #5 do it?

I like the NC winner to be decided by a showing on the field rather than a show of hands.

I do agree with this. Bowls are meaningless now

What's the difference, a show of hands now decide who plays, why just those two or four teams?

1977

#5 Notre Dame beat #1 Texas.
#2 Oklahoma lost to #6 Arkansas
#4 Michigan lost to #13 Washington
#3 Alabama beat #9 Ohio State, but narrowly lost the final vote to Notre Dame.

Didn't a #5 ND team beat #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl and get voted #1? 1977ish?

I believe that was the same year. Also the same year Lou Holtz, at Arkansas, suspended three players and upset OU in the Orange Bowl. Crazy New Year's Day.

Edited for spelling

At a point in time when 6-6 teams are being invited to bowl games sponsored by the pawn shop down the street, good.
