Liability in Dog Bite Question

I figured the OT would enjoy this...
GF went outside with my dog to let it go to the bathroom...on a leash.
Next door neighbor on the other hand, let's her dog out (without a leash) because her dog was throwing up...
Her dog (Bull Terrier mix) attacks my dog (Cattle Dog).
Aftermath is my gf had to go to the ER to get stitches, as well as a broken left index finger.
Now my dog on the other hand, has a deep dime size gash in his ear...the wound isn't bleeding anymore and is in the cartilage. It also is not bleeding and the dog does not appear to be in pain.
TLDR....
What should I do?

Have that other person's dog put down.
And call lawyer.
Then do what lawyer says.

Ask the neighbor nicely to pay for the bills.
If she refuses, you call the cops on the dog and lawyer up.

Neighbors homeowners will pay for your med bills. Offer that route first. Sue if they decline to file claim.

Call a cop. Will kill both. OT is slipping.
Really need to contact the other owners and let them know what is what. There homeowners insurance should cover any meds bills. Also you need to know if there dog is up to all shots.

Should call the cops. Then tell them to pay, and if they refuse then get a lawyer

no fences...but this ordeal will definitely cause fences to go up...
The neighbors said they were sorry and according to my gf said they would pay for the damages, but I didn't hear it with my own ears so I will go up to them when they get home and let them know the situation.
I'm not worried about the dog as I am my gf...since the dog caused her to break her finger (from the bite)...there is an increased chance that the bone itself may get infected.

This is something to be worried about. Dog bites can be nasty.

yeah what's crazy is that the doctor didn't even want to take x-rays until my gf mentioned that her finger looked crooked.

depends on your relationship with the neighbor.
The answer is between let it go, and sue for everything they got.

IIRC Lester earl had a dog bite issue that he had to take care of. Ask him

Why would your gf jump in the middle of a dog fight?
