The players support for Harris was so obvious. The line, the running backs, and the receivers were all in for Harris. It was as if the players wanted the change and the only way they could make it happen, was to do it themselves. Maybe that’s a stretch, but it sure looked that way.

Players have the WANT to win. Winning is fun and losing sucks. NOW it's time for Les to show us the WANT...

i was wondering if Jennings would have had to break some NCAA record for interceptions and fumbles before Miles pulled him?

Yes. It does look that way. I'm wondering if Jennings has done something or things that put off the other players. Idk. He seems to talk a lot.

After the ugly loss against MS, the players wanted a change, just like the fans. Sure Harris is young but get him in now and quick putting off the inevitable.

Harris sparked something in our offense and even defense without a doubt. But i'm pretty sure the players weren't playing down on purpose just to have a QB change

I don't think it's a conscious decision for them to play harder with Harris in. I think it's simply a confidence thing. I don't think Jennings has pissed anyone off or no one likes him or anything like that. He just doesn't have the "it" factor that Harris has. This is why I don't buy the "Jennings practices better" stuff. You can literally see the offensive moral rise when Harris comes in and I really think it's simply due to everyone immediately feeling like he gives them a better chance. The only way they would feel this way is because they've seen the way the guys perform in practice.

I begrudgingly agree. They all perked up noticeably. I wonder what the frick is going on there.

Possibly the freshman feel more of a bond with Harris? They are all teammates, but they have played against, or met in camps for years now. So there is more familiarity there. Not to mention they fact that he was 100x vs MSU and then reaffirmed it last night with the way he moved the ball. Jennings was literally boo'd off the field last night. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if Les starts him again...

Maybe subconsciously but no way they sucked on purpose by running wrong routes and not blocking. That's actually a pretty shitty accusation.

I had a discussion with brandon winey when we had the booty vs davey qb issue. He said, we are trying to play the best we can for either guy. Does it make sense for me to play bad if I want to get to the n.f.l?

That is all these players goal, so they are going to tank their goal for different qb? i don't think so.

We went up tempo in the game when harris came in. I think this helped the offensive line to just block and not think. It also prevented the defense from adjusting.

I think it is a combination of three things. First, i don't buy the "Jennings practices better" line and find it insulting to Harris. It implies that Harris isn't grasping the offense, that he is not as smart as Jennings. If you saw his post game interview, the kid is obviously smart, poised and articulate. Miles is defending his decision by insulting Harris.

Second, Harris can make every throw, so the defense has to cover the whole field, which creates space for our great playmakers to perform. He also can scramble and throws extremely well on the run, which makes the O-line look better.

Third, I think that the players have been seeing this since the Spring and they probably do get pumped up when Harris is in the game because they know what he can do.

And you are insulting the players by suggesting they tank it for the Jennings.

I don't think it had anything to do with the players liking Harris more, or being more confident in in him, but rather LSU running an offense that these guys are more comfortable with. If it takes Harris starting for LSU to spread things out a bit more and run the ball out of the shotgun, then I'm all for it.

Both Jennings and Harris seem much more comfortable in that type of offense. It's no coincidence that Jennings' one nice drive came from when he was in the shotgun. Yet, with Jennings in, LSU tries to force a square peg in a round hole. I guess Harris as a true freshman hasn't had enough time to learn the "LSU offense" so they were forced to run something that better suits him right now. And I'll be damned if it didn't work.

The best coaches put their players in the best position to succeed. Hopefully Les and co. can continue to realize that going forward

In a way, this is a little worrisome. Don't think for a second I'm complaining about the results, but this is a pretty fair indicator of a coach losing control of his team IF this is what was really going on.

"Sorry coach, but we're going to decide who plays QB, not you - and this is how we do it".

hypothetically, in some imaginary scenario where one guy had been working on something twice as long as some other guy, is there any other explanation you can come up with to explain why the first guy might be further along? any guess at all, no matter how far fetched?

or is Miles sending subliminal messages to the fan base still the only rational answer?

Same here. Even before Harris' passing ability opened up, the running game suddenly worked when Harris handed off the ball.
