Last Defensive tackles to start under 280 lbs??

I'm guessing Dorsey was about 270(actual weight 302). I honestly love this move with Godchaux starting and Neal getting more pt. The big guys aren't getting it done so what better option than to get two undersized, agile, low leverage, strong guys to come off the ball get in the gaps and cause havoc in the backfield.

Dorsey was bigger than that.

Awesome. When does this start?

You're right he was 6'2 302 although I feel the 302 was generous. I think he was about 285

I don't think Godchaux's listed weight is his actual weight. They've said he was 300 lbs on at least one of the broadcasts. My guess is he's around 290.

Godchaux is going to be an All American before his time is done. Absolute beast that doesn't take plays off.

Josh Downs was about 270

Who cares how big they are as long as they produce and fulfill their assignments
Geeze are we knocking a kid already(Lewis Neal)? Didn't he have 4 tackles in 6 plays last week against a SEC team?

What do you mean knocking. I'm glad they are putting him in. I'm saying Quicker, Lower DTs might work better

Exactly

If there ever was a year to run 3-4 defense this would be year. I know you can't change that season to season obviously. Our lack of DTs and depth at LB would be big

we are going to get absolutely pulverized by bama on the lines

who exactly is going to play nose for us? running a 3-4 with no one that can take on the center and one of the guards is not going to work.

we don't have anyone who could man the NT position. The starting duo of Godcheaux and Locoture are solid, just nothing behind them. I like Neal as a situational DT, but he can't be an every down DT yet. Probably would have been able to get to 300 by his senior year if we hadn't stupidly burned his redshirt last year.

alternate Godchaux and LaCouture. Lew Neal on passing downs.
instead of a 3-4, run the mustang as base, but with a 3-3-5 look like we did in 09 with Harry Coleman (who was technically a LB that yr but stayed in for nickel/ mustang). Dwayne Thomas is the 5th DB, and let Beckwith start. wreak havoc!

Godchaux is listed at 298lbs. I know you cannot always trust roster weights, but he looks it to me. Neal I get. Also, I don't think anyone is bashing Neal. He is strong for his size and quick. He is just very light for a DT.

No you need some big arse DEs DTS for the 3-4
