I got another job offer from a company that uses the same systems. My employer threatens to sue me if I take the job. I only signed a confidenality agreement. I'm not taking anything with me if I leave. What can be done to me?

Eta: I've talked to a few lawyers and like some of you have said. Anyone can sue an individual. I was advised about filing a complaint with the Equal Employement opportunity commission regarding the threat of being sued.

Non compete clause never signed. It's in the oilfield. He has a patent on the equipment and the other company doesn't. They aren't doing the same work, just using the same testing equipment. And he is very mad!!!

You're fine. Bite your tongue for two weeks and roll out.

The Speedy Oil change Corporation should not really care if an employee leaves and goes to Jiffy Oil Change

Well if you aren't going to do anything wrong, like you are saying, then you have nothing to worry about!

Call a lawyer buddy just to make sure but I've never heard of someone getting sued because they use the same software.
