Miles and the players seem to think there are a lot of errors lining up, but with personnel deficiencies at defensive tackle, will there be enough improvement to hang with the teams on the rest of our schedule?

I sure hope remembering where to lineup is fixable, but thats not on the coaches.

Putting Beckwith over Welter is an easy move that would improve us a good bit.

That issue is fixable.

DTs... Not so much. Just worried about the talent level we have at DT. I mean Godchaux has been our most impressive DT so far this year. And he's a true freshman coming off of ACL surgery a year ago. He's a very talented player and will be great for us and all that, but still is a true freshman and is our most impressive DT.

Maybe fixable to being serviceable. Not fixable to being a great defense this year

No depth at DT, so no...
We can get better if the right people are on the field thou.

I have more faith in Chavis improving the defense then Cameron improving the offense.

The defense will improve and struggle but they will be good enough to get most teams over the top...if those teams have an offense that doesn't go three and out too often.

For a chance at success, the offense has to help the defense by staying on the field more than the defense so when we need a defensive stand, the defense isn't all burned out.

I think we will tighten up the middle against Auburn. Auburn will still get their stats and points, but the key is, will our offense get stats and points as well.

I don't think much seen in the NMST game will tell us anything, even if we play great because Miles tries to show as little of his cards as possible. All he is looking for against NMSt is for his team to EXECUTE cleanly and effectively. That would be nice to see, even against NMST.

Oh yes it is. If a player can't remember where to line up he shouldn't be on the field.

LMFAO and Valentine would both be getting a shite load of snaps had they been available. Our two most relentless DTs, and neither can get on the field. The DL was doomed before the season started.

Let's see - Chavis improving the defense vs Les/CC improving the offense.

Odds are in the Chief's favor.

Yeah, he really opens up the playbook against better opposition.

The problems with the defense begin with the fact the Offense can't keep the ball for more than 2 minutes nor can they move the ball more than 7 yards after two off tackle dives and one pass under pressure. Can that be fixed? I don't think so... I think our O Line has taken a huge step backwards. The talent is there, but the coaching has changed is all I can put my finger on... I find it hard to believe a change in O Line coaches could have this much impact positively or negatively but without the O Line dominating and keeping us running and holding onto the ball and changing field position, I'm not sure that we fix this. That said, twice MState went 98 yards in a few plays to score so who really knows. Specific to the defense we have no push up the middle. That's critical for SEC success. I don't think you find someone and they suddenly push up the middle. These are the rare players... Not so much made as born, in my opinion.

No. my biggest thing is you recruit and coach these guys, BAIN, HERRON , GILMORE, yet they cant get in the game. I say frick it, just play them, they cant be any worse. You recruited them to play for LSU. let them play. You are going to tell me our best 4th option is a 255lb de? well with thomas out hes our 3rd option.

They scored 3 tds from third and long on our side of the field. why is your defense worn down in the first half after playing fricking ULM?
