I have done my research, taken tours of several private/tuition based schools, and even used the TD search function. I am looking for feedback from posters with first hand knowledge of the Lab school. I am strongly considering trying to get my 2 daughters in for next school year. They will be Kindergarten and 2nd grade.

The only thing I know is that it's hard to get in.

What's tuition like?

Unless you are connected it ain't happening. You MUST know someone with alot of power to get in.

This, and the fact that the OP lives in Zachary, is why I suggested Southern Lab. Has the OP considered that option?

From what I know, its extremely hard to get into LSU Lab. Unless you run a 4.2 in the 40.......but thats a whole another subject.

Don't get your hopes up, there's a long waiting list for that school. Are you an alumni? are you a deep pocketed alumni donor? That helps.

I am not an alumnus but my mother is a professor and have another strong family connection. Southern Lab is in no way an option. We feel pretty confident on the Kindergartener getting in, 2nd grade is the problem. They cap at 104 per grade, so unless there is attrition they don't admit new students. K only has about 140 applicants so far for next year and deadline is less than 2 weeks away. Thanks for all the feedback.

I went to U-high. My mother, aunt and uncle went to U-hight back in the '50s. That used to be all you needed to get in plus the connections (governor, LSU coach, politician offspring). Now it is register your kid when you think of conceiving, you may have a chance, and if your child is athletically gifted.

A fired LSU coach would definitely help your case.

Application period began in Sept and ends Oct 8th. They definitely have a spot on app to list lab school/LSU connections though. That process will play out however it does, I was more interested in experiences with the school as a whole.

Is this because of race?

You shouldn't be so confident.. Reality is that your 2nd grader probably has a better chance.. Your mom being a professor doesn't do much.

Let me say that I have some other options, LSU Lab school is first choice, and I will know if accepted into lab school before applications are even due at other schools we are looking at.

Here is an actual non OT response to the OT.

It is one of the finest schools you could hope for in the area. Which is why all of the posts a over ref getting in are true. Give it a shot but don't count on it.
