To open January 16, 2015. One of my four most anticipated movies of the year (with Gone Girl, Inherent Vice, Interstellar).

Why? It looks like any another "swole genius saves the world" type movie.
ETA: That sounded dickish. Generally curious why there would be so much anticipation. Just because of Michal Mann?

Haven't even heard of this film until today, but I'd guess Michael Mann is a good enough reason. It's good to see Thor working with another very good director(previously with Ron Howard) when he's not avenging Asgard.
I'm weary of any film released in January, though. The old Hollywood term for the post Christmas season release is "January Junk".

Hollywood needs more Mann. I was beginning to think he might never make another movie.

Honestly, I don't think I have seen a bad Michael Mann film, so I will definitely give him the benefit of the doubt.

While I agree in principle, he ended up making the Miami Vice movie instead of pursuing the Gates of Fire project.
I liked 300 as much as the next person, but it is what it is.
I generally hate "it might have been" talk, but we could have had a Michael Mann directed, Bruce Willis and George Clooney led, realistic story of what actually happened at Thermopylae, instead of the filmed, fantasy graphic novel version (or, if you prefer, "in addition to").
Of all sad words of tongue or pen...

I really like Mann so I will catch this however I was not a fan of Public Enemies. Didn't have any of his normal style.
I didn't see Miami Vice which I really ought too since his style is rooted in the 80s so he probably did a good job with Vice.
I think Manhunter is superior in every way to Red Dragon and it isn't even close. There is more atmosphere in the first 5 minutes of the movie than all of Dragon.
Cmon Man! Chris Elliott in a dramatic role.

The soundtrack is so fracking 80s.
I guess Tangerine Dream wanted to much money so he asked someone else to make it sound exactly like Tangerine Dream.

I always bitch about the love that Drive gets especially people who claim it is such a ground breaking film or style. It is nothing more than a remake of Thief which once again has more atmosphere and a better score by far.
