I'm finally rewatching fringe and something is bothering me.

Why the hell is Sanford Harris bossing the fringe department around? He's in internal affairs, how does he have the authority to direct investigations, move around officers and tactical squads, punish agents, etc? I don't understand it, and he bugs the hell out of me.

I really don't remember Season 1 that well. I had to look on Fringepedia to see who you were talking about.

He was one of the weaker characters and his plot made no sense.

He reminded me of everything I didn't like about the obstructionist government in X-Files.

Not to mention he committed some kind of sexual assault and yet he was released and given a position of power.

Nothing about his arc made much sense. Just when I was about to start hating the show, he was removed nicely.

That bothers me more. The guy fondled three chicks and his conviction gets turned over, then he quickly blows through the ranks in the department of Homeland Security? Yea bullshite.

I just don't understand how he had authority over a division of the fbi being that he is in internal affairs at the DHS

Had to be more than fondling. He was convicted and Olivia had something to do with it. His whole arc was almost as poorly written as the mob guys who disappeared.

he's terrible. is he investigating their division or is he the new boss? it makes no sense. plus some episodes he's all hands on then others he's not even there.

What was even the point of the investigation? The damn Fringe Division saved a shite ton of lives pretty much every week.

For the actual good they did, they could spend half the pentagon budget and it would still be a steal of a deal.

Now that you mention this what ever happened with that?
Zero. The folks after Peter who appeared mobbish, simply went away.

Peter had them all killed. No other explanation.

Final season was great. My favorite finale of all time. The finale did a great job giving closure and satisfaction to the viewers.
