Strong earthquake rattles Alaska.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A powerful earthquake shook up a large swath of Alaska, including the state's largest city.
The Alaska Earthquake Center says the quake had a 6.2 magnitude.
The quake occurred at 9:51 a.m. Thursday, 80 miles northwest of Anchorage, where it was strongly felt, and lingered for at least one minute.
There are no immediate reports of damage or injury.
No tsunami is expected.

Seriously though, I've been here for a year and have felt a few small ones, but this one was the first moderate to big one I've experienced. Building was swaying...things on my desk shaking. Weird feeling for sure.

Maybe he is out in the shrubs??

The report did say there were no immediate indications of injuries...so that is good

It's considered moderate to strong. They happen frequently up here but they are usually so far away from Anchorage to where we do not feel them.

Here's a link showing the recent activity.

That's not anywhere near him. I doubt they noticed anything down there.

Say, if you were on acid in a high rise building during a magnitude 8.0?

There was a 9.2 in Alaska, in 1964, that drained the Amite River. Well, at least removed the water from the river.

there was one near Gadsden Al back in early 2000s I felt that all the way back in Tuscaloosa. I think it was a 4.5. I Felt a shimmy and then heard the walls in my apt creak.

THen a low rumble for about 20 seconds.

That was a weak earthquake with epicenter about 100 miles away.

cannot imagine one that is 6 plus taking place near me.
