Gents, I need some help. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm like the sucker on the used car lot when it comes to smartphones. Two years ago I let the weenie at best buy talk me into a Galaxy Nexus. It never really clicked when I asked him about battery life & he said, "oh, its great just make sure it stays charged"....three days later I knew what he was talking about.

In no particular order here's what I need in a smart phone:
Battery life
Call quality
I work outside so it needs to be able to handle some fairly rough elements....something I couldn't do with the Nexus.
Photo quality. I'm not talking professional grade but pictures at work are a must for covering my arse.

I really don't know much about OS's and all that stuff, but I do use the internet regularly for work stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

No shame at all. I'm the sucker on the used car lot when it comes to actual cars.

Not sure if this will help, but you can actually narrow down your criteria a bit. Most smart phones have "OK" call quality (not much differentiation) and you can buy a case to protect it.

So your criteria really is long battery life and a good camera. Sounds like you might be interested in the Motorola droid maxxx.

You may also want to have a look at the Nokia Lumia 1520. It's has a 20 megapixel camera and since its a big phone, it has a big battery as well.

I'll back the Lumia. I have the Lumia 1020 and it really is a nice phone. The camera on it is amazing for a phone, but it sounds like its probably more than you would need, so the 1520 would be a better option. I heard a lot of hate on the tile setup of the home screen before buying mine, but I love it.

If I'm being honest, I plan on switching back to the iPhone within the year, but that's only because I like their OS and apps better. For what you need a Lumia sounds like a good solution.

So how do I find out about battery life? Is it in a battery rating?
