Between work, kids, house, exercise and other activities, I don't see much TV, but this week I watched two episodes a night of True Detective. Finished last night.

Great story. Woody was much less three dimensional as Matthew playing Rust Cohle, but overall, an awesome job of story telling and great acting.

I do enjoy Breaking Bad, but how McConaghey didn't win the Emmy for Best Actor escapes my understanding.

McConahey has really been nailing every role he's been in lately. Just about every thing he's been in pretty much since Lincoln lawyer I have enjoyed.

I agree. Just watched Dallas Buyers Club and really enjoyed his performance.

It's because Breaking Bad is over and that was more of a nod to Cranston. McConoughey was absolutely outstanding in TD.

I tried watching BB but I just couldn't get in to it. Part of it probably had to do with a couple of my friends calling me an idiot for not watching it.

This. Cranston could've spent the entire season sitting on the toilet taking a shite while reading the paper and still won the award. I'm not saying he wasn't deserving, but he was winning no matter what.

Yeah, thats why that scene in Family Guy made me laugh my arse off.

This is so true. I have sat next to complete strangers BEFORE I started watching Breaking Bad, and have them tell me, out of the clear blue, "BTW - Breaking Bad is the greatest show ever! You really should watch it!" and thinking to myself, "Why did they just tell me that? We weren't even talking about TV shows."

Anyone read the quotes where he said that losing all that weight cost him his sex drive but he gained clarity and logic in his thought processes to offset what he "lost down there"?

I do like me some cognitive thinking, but, jeez.... is it worth losing your sex drive to lose all that weight?

Just like the Seinfeld episode where Costanza gives up sex and suddenly becomes a smarter person.

I have avoided breaking bad mostly because everyone around me thinks it is great. When my parents are bragging to me how great the show is then I know I missed the boat.

I'll probably watch it when I retire.

I'm a bit of a contrarian.

And it seems that show has gone on for a while. I don't have time to dive into a new show routine.

I think what sets TD apart is the acting. The premise of the show and the storytelling was also very good. The only gripe I had was the way it ended. I don't want to do any spoilers but I think they had so many great things about the show that the ending felt lack luster. The acting was superb by MM and he really carried the show. It was fantastic.

I would also suggest the Leftovers for anyone that enjoyed this show.

He did it right. He was in a bunch of crappy rom coms where he didn't have to do anything but show up and got huge pay days. Then he took lead roles in smaller movies where he didn't get big pay days, but honed his craft. Then he took lead roles in projects he was interested in which had substance, but not a huge payday such as Dallas Buyer's Club and True Detective. Now he is taking roles in projects with both substance and huge pay days.

I met him on the set of Killer Joe, which I think he is great in, and he is a real cool guy.

Alright...alright...alright!

Looking forward to his next collaborative project. Woody Harrelson was really good, but very difficult to sympathize with. MM got lost in the role and with WH, I always saw WH. I mean, look at this image of MM. You really have a difficult time telling that's him.
