I said in a previous post after the comeback on Wisconsin that I wanted to see Jennings throw the ball at least 25 to 30 times in the next 2 games. Yes throwing in practice is great, but its nothing like throwing in real life game settings. Where it is not in a controlled environment like practice. This is important to help your qb, oline and wide outs on being on the same page. I'm no coach, but I just think that would have been common sense if you are trying to develop a young qb. I know it would not have been up to SEC talent, but it would have been against a lesser team that if our qb had thrown a couple of picks the game would not have been out of reach for us.I think as a qb in order to grow and get better you have to throw the ints, just like a child learning to walk has to fall. Of course throwing the ball more when the game is still in reach would help to.

This is why most fans have a problem with the coaching staff. It looked like LSU hasn't even practiced a week on offense after 3 games! So now you hope to bring in a new QB who hardly played those games and hope he doesn't screw up too badly. He's set up to fail now because he's 4 games behind everyone else.

Why not just say Sam Houston and ULM? I honestly had to think about what you were talking about.

Not to mention our first game was in Houston. That's what I was thinking at first.

Several of us stated the same thing, and we got skewered by the rantards for "whining" after a big win.

Of course, several of us said it would have been nice to see Jennings (or another backup) play more in mop-up duty against scrubs last season, so we'd have someone ready to go for this season.

It's called developing depth, and we haven't been able to do it at the QB position since Perriloux was shown the door.

Many people have been saying for years, once a game is in hand, play next year's guys, get them ready. Why make them play without real time experience, especially our QB. This should be routine by now, IMHO

I'm no coach,
Well, our new Offensive Line coach is trying to teach "Zone Blocking" instead of one on one "Man to Man" and it's obvious that the majority of the current OL's do not get it. He's negated the physical talent by trying to make them "Think" too much.

No doubt Grimes is an excellent OL coach, but is probably having second thoughts on the Zone Blocking concept for this OL. Better do a rethink for now and have these guys start "Playing" and not "Thinking." If you want to Zone Block, then maybe its best to wait until you can get enough of your own recruits in here that can successfully implement that style of blocking on the field.

It's kind of Like Miles recruiting "Spread" QB's and running I-Form. Wanna Zone Block, then recruit OL's that have the ability to think on their feet and actually prefer to ZB over MTM. That will take a different type of OL than most of those currently on the team.
