The reality of the QB situation

Everyone is eventually going to get what they want in Brandon Harris starting. AJ is going to continue losing games for us, and it's just a matter of when Les will determine that he has seen enough.
People are comparing this to the JJ/JL debacle, but they are really not the same. Defense bailed those teams out. That won't happen this year.
At this point, the only thing that we have to hope for is that BH actually is the real deal, because if not, we're going to be in for a long long ride as a fan base. We have stretched ourselves way too thin at the QB position.

You can't really blame miles on the recruitment of these qb's. Both were highly touted. It's the play book that's the worry. I don't think they even consistently practice those intermediate passes in scrimmages.

You seem like a positive guy.

I don't know if I'm buying this yet. That playbook worked fine last year with an NFL caliber QB.

We've run out of rabbit feet

NFL caliber QB who as a Sr had one class, and lived in the film room...

Strangely, I did not see AJ miss a tackle, or give up 570 yards of offense, and 34 points. He didn't play great Saturday, but (A) to single that kid out as the primary reason this team lost is ridiculous and (B) I doubt Harris would have fared much better with the offensive game plan had he started.

What I've read in the Picayune makes sense. Yes, Harris looked brilliant in those few minutes. That does not mean he has a complete grasp of the full playbook and a grasp of the entire game plan all week long in practice. I'm sure we'll see more of him, and if and when Cam thinks he's ready, we'll see him starting. The JJ/Lee situation would seem to contradict this, but Cam wasn't here then. When he's ready, Cam will have him starting.

now you need to figure out what are Metts strengths and what our current QB's strengths are.
I will try to help...Are BH and AJ dropback QB's?

I didn't see harris skip bounce passes off the grass to wide open receivers

The reality of the situation is that Les and his staff know more about what the QB siuation is really like. I don't have any personal favorite, anybody that helps LSU to win is my choice. Neither is a world beater at this time.
I'm not ready to anoint BH based upon what he did in high school (which most of his admirers never actually saw) nor am I ready to damn him based on his game time confusion or consecutive fumbles.

The best protection this defense could have is an effective offense. Sustain drives...limit three and outs...score some points and force teams to play from behind and pass (playing into our defensive strength).
To do this, we must be able to pass.
Jennings, though he may know the playbook, cannot pass. I could learn the playbook, but cannot pass.
Therefore, in my mind, play the guy that can open up the offense. That appears to be Harris.

Did you see his "brook trout look" against Wisconsin?
Or fumbles on two consecutive plays?
Obvioulsy not.

Just because a QB is highly rated out of high school doesn't mean that they are the right fit for certain types of offenses. The problem is that the staff from year to year fails to establish an offensive identity to recruit the right types of QBs. A good example is UT's recruitment of Garret Gilbert, who was not a spread offense QB.

What is so hard to grasp about a two tight one receiver set since that is what we run 95% of our plays from?

Did you see the bs plays he had to work with? Apparently not

Did you see Jennings throw a TD in the past 2 games...no
Did Harris throw a TD...yes
Getting points on the board matter and Jennings just doesn't get it done

That is a good point...we are not having our QBs checking out of plays or calling plays at the line. We essentially run a high school offense from 1996.

Agreed but that's not the narrative these people want. They want to think Cam has been pushing for Harris all along while Les wants to stick with Jennings.
