I used one this past weekend. Teal were coming in and it looked like it was fixing to be a gangbang with it. What's your experience with them?

My dad bought one a couple years ago but we barely used it because it's such a pain to set up and hook up to a battery

It would be better if we had a permanent blind where we could leave it

Yeah, once. It's a great way to scare a bunch of weary ducks IMO.

I've had experience with them. They're a pain in the arse unless you have a permanent blind to leave it with.

We used the vortex when it first came out in around 2007 or 2008.

We had it permanently set up out in front of a pit on a t-post and a car battery inside the pit to run it.

It work AWESOME the first season that we used it. It was sucking the ducks out of the sky, especially teal.

As time went on and hunting got tougher, it started to spook the ducks.

We put it up a few years ago and probably wont bring it back out.

It may just be good early season. Birds looked like bowling balls falling out the sky to check it out. We had mottle ducks and a group of pintail come and just stare at it from 10ft and then fly off. I think it probably does stop ducks from landing in the decoys. Late season I could see ducks not even think about it from being weary.

I didn't think it was bad to setup. I'm not fat and lazy though.

I like my mobility at my place so hauling that thing around is a non-starter. I hear they are still pretty lethal on big snow goose hunts, but when they work on ducks, I hear they work well.

My cousin has one. Didn't know it at the time, and was wondering why are we totin this fricking car battery to the blind. Well, I sure found out after he hooded up the vortex. And then he put out to regular flappas. I thought, here you are in the middle of duck paradise/habitat and you need four flappas, with two of em on a merry go round. I think we killed 5 that morning, saw thousands.

We killed limits all weekend and I don't think I saw a thousand ducks all weekend.
