1) D-Line play: The entire line has been a non-factor. They've tried countless combinations this year and none of them have worked out. Put this in the "can't" category.

2) LB play: Outside of Kwon it's been terrible for the most part. Beckwith is out of position at times but he at least makes plays the other 80% of the time he's on the field. I guess Clifton Garret has snake blood running through his veins or something because it sure is taking him a long time to get acclimated to the heat. Put this in the "won't" category.

3) QB play: Jennings looks an awful lot like a former QB from the not so distant past. He's slow to make decisions to the point that the staff obviously can't trust him. He throws one pass a game to Dural down the sideline but that's about the limit of his skill-set it appears. If it isn't then this staff just does not trust his ability and a change should at least be attempted. Put this in the "won't/maybe they'll have to due to injury" category.

4) Offensive identity: This is the biggest one in my eyes. We don't have the defense up the middle to really stop anybody in the SEC except maybe Kentucky. Ole Miss, Auburn, Bama and Arky will abuse us up the middle. We will need the offense to put up points and that's just not going to happen with Jennings running the I offense. History tells us that we will not change our base offense especially in the middle of the year. Put that in the "won't" category.

Sorry for the wall of text.

will get better, we have some very young but highly talented players, who have yet to adjust to SEC speed and strength

QB play

Jennings has made some good passes here and there this season so far. I think the pressure of the first SEC game, and trying to produce a comeback got to him. Harris is more talented than Jennings, but Jennings is still much better than JJ. He won't be great, but he will be good enough to keep offenses honest of our passing game.

Offensive identity:

we can still move the ball by lining up and running it at people. What the key is for our future is QB play. The reason we struggle to run the ball is because teams don't respect Jennings so they call run blitzes in all plays but obvious passing situations.

D line play - Oregron just a phone call away
LB play - live and die with Beckwith, athleticism needs to be on field
QB play - if completion %age is less than 50% you are toast in the SEC and the run game will never get going, if that's the best Jennings can do than you might as well play the more upside in Harris with the mistakes that will come with it
Offensive identity - same old, let Cameron run his offense, Stud is loving it, let Grimes have Mawae's job with the Sat CST show and put Mawae on the field - I bet the line play would improve

Miles has already addressed time and again with his brilliance: "We just need to settle down and play like Tigers." $4m, well spent.

It won't matter who the QB is this year unless we run an offense suited to their talents. It's like asking Mett to run Oregon's offense.

Harris can throw the ball harder than Jennings and is probably a little faster. That's all we really know. I'm not ready to anoint him the second coming based upon what he did in garbage time against a purposely soft MSU defense.

AJ is inexperienced. The coaches aren't going to ask him to go through 3-4 progressions on a play. Guess what? They wouldn't do the same for Harris either. That said, LSU does its starting QB no favors with their passing philosophy. It's seems like 85% of the pass plays are 2 man routes designed to go deep. By design, the QB is forced to hold the ball longer. Couple that with an OL that can't hold blocks, and you've got a recipe for disaster. I don't think Harris would fare much better in that scenario.
