Jason Kidd is bringing in Gary Payton to work with Giannis Antetokounmpo on becoming a PG.

quote:

Jason Kidd had a vision going to Milwaukee: to see Giannis Antetokounmpo running the point for the Bucks from the “1” position. The new coach of the Bucks is not only determined to implement this idea, but will have the help of one of the top point guards of the 90s in this effort: Gary Payton.

...Antetokounmpo had a growth spurt and he confirmed to Basketball Insiders that he’s currently 6’11. Between his height and his 7’5 wingspan, it’s easy to see why Kidd is intrigued by the thought of Antetokounmpo playing point guard. To put it simply, he’d be a matchup nightmare.

Even if AD had better handles, is PG the best use of a 6'11 player?

Giannis played PG a good bit in summer league and, to put it simply, he was elite.

I hope it works out because that would be really cool to watch.

If he can move well enough for it, why not?

Great point guard, but I'm not sure he's who I would bring in. He was good on offense, but not elite. He was elite on defense, but the rules have changed. If he played today he'd foul out by the half.

Still, interesting non the less.

I'd want him to play Point Forward if he could, but full time at the 1? No.

Um, no. 2 APG v 4.5 TOPG. If anything, summer league was a bit of a disaster for him as a pg. It's intriguing but he's got a long way to go. Bledsoe on the Bucks would be awesome.

To answer the OP question; no, not for Davis. He's a big If Magic we're 6'11" then sure. He's a guard.

Elite bigs are always more valuable than elite pgs.

That has been the case. Not sure it will always be the case. Center is pretty watered down in the NBA right now.

Unless Jrue could play the 3, he needs to play PG.

I have no idea if GP is a decent coach, but the above is just foolish.
