Should make for an interesting Nola music story. Shamarr was arrested before his set at Armstrong park tonight, I hear.

That's his second incident with NOPD since the incident that made headlines in August. Curious to hear more of the story - my early reports are both sides were dumb tonight.

So the secondhand cliff notes -- shamarr was backstage giving out passes to his family, officer gets into it with sister and mom for not having one..... Mom gets knocked to ground in argument between sister and cop. Shamarr runs over, I'm assuming a bit hot tempered between this and the last two incidents. Scuffle follows (no details yet) and cuffs come out.

That just the real quick version I was sent

Was there. Yep, security fricked up bad, and gave Shamar and his mom/sister trouble. Shamar jumped on stage and said he was canceling the concert, and jumped off. Someone said that the security people were manhandling his sister, so Shamar ran over to the area and started wailing on someone. Shamar handcuffed and led off. And, in a final bizarre twist, a Michael Jackson impersonator takes the stage in place of Shamar. Sigh.......

I wonder if it was the same MJ impersonator who opened for Aziz Ansari last week in Baton Rouge.

No clue. Security started to give Shamar problems early on because he was leaving the private area by the stage to go into the crowd and greet friends. Right before the scene unraveled, they told him he was not allowed backstage again (the freaking headliner?!?). Security was courtesy of OPP guards. Keep in mind, these are people too dumb to be NOPD. Houston, we have a problem.

Shamar needs to learn how to better handle himself in these situations.

I get that, but if your mother and sister are being manhandled, a lot of people would have acted the same way. Just a bad situation all around.

that coupled with his recent run ins.... im guessing many would have. that doesnt mean it was the right way to deal with it -- but it doesnt sound surprising either.

i heard from someone else that his mom ended up going to the hospital from the fall she took, and that what sparked the incident was seeing mom on the ground, and sister being restrained with a hand on the neck. that could be enough sources removed that its like playing a game of telephone -- but if true - no good. still, im guessing it didnt go 0 to 60 without both sides participating, and wailing on a security guard to remedy that is very rarely going to end well. like i said in the OP, none of the stories ive heard sounded like either side was "right" ---- sounded like a mess all around.
