I am looking at two wicked ridge by ten point crossbows and maybe another one. It is for my son who is 15 this year and then probably me afterwards when he moves up ro a compound bow. I am looking at the

Wicked Point Hunter XL 419.00

Wicked point Warrior 549.00
LINK

ten point Extreme 699.00
(without cocking mechanism)

Any advice appreciated, and yeah I am sure the 2000 bows are way better but that ain't happening. (LOL)

I have a wicked ridge and love it. Yes the cocking mechanism works well. You will get a lot of grief here but screw the haters.

15 is plenty old enough for a compound. Trust me he will thank you later in life.

I like Barnett - the Ghost series are great, and very light as well.

This is the one I have:

Why do so many of you hate on xbows so much. The guy came in and asked a simple question just answer or get out. I dont use a xbow but have no problem with anyone who does. The rules are changing so we just have to deal with it. You dont have to come in and down someone for doing it. If it gets more people hunting then great. A cross bow is not near as bad as these same people complaining who use the 35whelen during primitive weapon season. Get over it, as long as its within the rules im okay with it.

While I don't have a problem with someone hunting with a crossbow, comments like this don't help you get serious responses.

Your son will need more than 2 hours of practice, even with a crossbow, to take ethical shots. What have ya'll been doing the rest of the year?

I agree but the whole, "only have 2 hours to practice and then will have huge bucks everywhere just like every year" is not going to bring helpful responses.
