I don't understand the complaints from the Chicago black community on this issue

Cliff notes: Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to name a new Chicago school after Barack Obama. Black leaders complained that this honor was inappropriate for a school slated for a wealthy, predominantly white part of Chicago.
Isn't this what we're all aiming for: A color blind society? Isn't this a good thing when a mostly white school is named after our first black president?
This, to me, is further proof that very few people today who are involved in the politics of race are still striving for MLK's dream of a color-blind society. There's another agenda at work here.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel backed off Thursday from naming a new elite high school after President Barack Obama amid ongoing criticism from African-Americans who felt the honor inappropriate for a school slated for a wealthy, predominantly white part of the Near North Side..
Instead of naming the new school after his former boss, the mayor indicated he would consider other names for the selective enrollment high school set to be built near the site of the former Cabrini-Green public housing project just northwest of downtown.
“Over the last few months, my team has listened to questions and concerns from the community, ranging from location of the building to the naming of the school. We take that community input seriously, which is why – as we continue to look for a thoughtful way to honor President Obama – we will look for other possible names for this future school,” Emanuel said in a statement.

Wealthy, predominantly white school named after Obama. Damn, just how good would their golf team be?

It is apparent to every black person in America that we do not live in a race blind society.

I agree with the OP 100%. One thing that's always bothered me is that if you go to any major American city, MLK Boulevard is invariably located in the most run-down, desolate part of town.

This is true, I have yet to see an exception, and I've worked/ vacation 33 states.

I don't know how this passive aggressive not-so-subtle racist count hasn't been banned yet.

Let's be honest, certain cultures...will always differentiate themselves from everyone else to keep from feeling insecure.
It's no secret these politicians don't give a rat's arse about being "color blind" or improving race relations. They are a detriment to society, race relations and quite frankly an embarrassment to the culture and race they claim to represent.
Tired of people acting shocked at this type of bullshite. Like it's some big surprise.

They should build half the school on the black side of town and half the school on the white side of town.
