Fwiw, I think that's an attractive facade.

One of my friends (who actually posts here) is a regional manager. I'm surprised (and kind of bummed) he didn't tell me about this.

If only we could get more people to listen to this guy. Alas, fat frick America will most likely flock to this shite. Veterans Blvd. prepare thyself.

Metairie and Kenner have some decent locally owned Viet places. I hope that the regulars still continue to frequent Pho Orchid, Pho Nola, Fusion Cafe, Frosty's, Pho Bang, and Pho Sunrise before this Taco Bell Viet Crap.

damn you're insufferable sometimes.

I get annoyed when posters on here act like Metairie has zero good restaurants. The Viet places here get A LOT of business.

Anybody in their right mind in New Orleans would/will avoid this place (if it does indeed pop up) and choose one of the more authentic places. Just look at the failure of Mo Pho, for example. Culotta might as well change the name to Mo Wings because that's the only thing there that people actually like.

Top of my list to try out soon. I've heard good things.
Wink, don't get mad at R2R. It's not his fault his palate and tastes are more refined than everyone outside of New Orleans proper
Being great is a challenge. You have to remind the plebes like us about our proper place in the social hierarchy from time to time.

The Boba Tea at Frosty's is the best I've ever had. I'm not a fan of tapioca balls though so I omit them. I've never had the actual food there.
I can say that Pho Orchid, Pho Sunrise, Pho Bang, and Pho Nola are all great.
Still need to try the FDB Favorite that is Kim Anh's but it's technically in Harahan and not Metairie.

Vietnamese people have been in this country long enough that it's time for their culture to get shite on by corporate execs. They should have seen this one coming. Mexican, German, Chinese, Italian, and Japanese have all been nerfed and stereotyped for mass consumption.

Didn't I send you a text from Frosty's like 2 weeks ago? Yeah..
I was one of 2 people in the joint that day, by the way. Same when I went to Korea House the week before and George's the week before that. Meanwhile I go to the mall to buy a new Saints polo and the Food Court is packed to the gills. Ditto the Applebee's next to Barnes & Noble.. parking lot was overflowing during lunch. The Chick-Fil-A? Lines of cars all day.
I'm in no way suggesting the Metairie / Kenner lack good dining options (as ladytiger tried to put those words in my mouth), but to pretend that people in Metry don't flock to chains and bullshite food is asinine.

Yep. Corporate America waters down yet another commodity they weren't clever enough to invent or perfect. See also: craft beer.

A Banh Mi costs $6.95 at that place.

Vietnamese food is not as popular as it should be. This restaurant may peak peoples' interest and encourage them to try local restaurants. People don't give a shite about a red star on the facade. If it gets them to think about Vietnamese food that's all good in my book.

I'm going because Wise said it's good. If it's Vietnamese or Houston food and Wise gives it the thumbs up, I'm going to assume it's probably pretty good. So far I've not been disappointed.

Has the line died down at the Canes on Carrollton yet? Pretty much made the right lane unusable. But I'm sure lines at chains and fast food only happens in Metry/Kennah

OR what happens is they've been wanting to try Vietnamese food because they've been hearing for 3 or 4 years now how good it is from all their friends and acquaintances who regularly patron local viet restaurants. They were just always kinda wary. But now comes along a known "trusted" brand who opens up one so they decided to finally give the cuisine a shot. But because of the inherent short-cutting and across the board low quality of mass-produced food / chain restaurants they leave displeased and claim to not "understand what all the hype is about."
Same kind of thing happens with people who want to get into craft beer and decided to try the bullshite BMC products surreptitiously marketed as real craft beers. They declare craft beer sucks and never give the true products a try.
Meanwhile the big box stores and chains continue to do business because their margins are good enough where they can survive with the folks who don't know any better or don't give a shite. Maw and paw down the street eventually are run out of business or at least have to settle for less market share.
