I have AT&T, if that helps. I know the phone updated recently. I just don't understand it.

I know I've bitched about this phone a teeny weeny bit, but there's no reason for it to freeze all the time. It does it whenever the phone goes dark after not using it. When I pick it up and start doing something, it will freeze. It happens almost every time I pick it up now.

Is there something I should be looking for to see what's causing the problem?

Why haven't you sold it yet? Touchwiz is garbage.

basically a factory reset.

Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon in the top-right. Swipe down to the User and Backup section, or tap the magnifying glass to type in a search in the top-right and tap Backup and reset.

The last option on this screen is Factory data reset. Tap this, and you'll be given one more warning screen before making the plunge. Review all of the data that will be deleted, then scroll down to the bottom and tap Reset device.

Have you used anything besides the original launcher (Touchwiz)?

I did, but I took it off. It was too much of a hassle.

Some of the stuff looks pretty important. I will lose all of it?

ETA: I guess it doesn't matter if it's backed up.

You should try Nova Launcher. It will greatly improve your Samsung experience. There's a free and paid version.

I used Nova Launcher, but took it off because the calendar sucked. I actually like the Google Calendar because it's big and shows all of the days for the month. It's easier for me to look at.

I used Themer, and it was cool, but it would freeze here and there.

You see, I didn't know you could do that.

Hold down on the blank spaces on Nova and pick widgets. Put either the Google Calendar or Business Calendar (play store) on there. My business calendar is full month size and shows all the dates in color by calendar type.

I have a Verizon S5 since the day it was released and have no issues with freezing. Once I was able to root I did and flashed custom roms that debloated the touchwiz. Runs great and very fast.

Any information you want for your phone you should be able to find here.

They don't want you to but WGAS. They'll never know unless you bring it in to a store.
