My SIL has been telling us about how Fresh Market sells their free-range no antibiotic chicken breasts for $2.99/lb on Tuesdays. Finally got over there today. Got three pounds - looked very impressive, extremely little fat on them. Not like the 60 percent chicken/20 percent water/20 percent fat chicken at some other grocery stores.

Came home after work and grilled it. Holy cow, it was amazingly good. Tasted fresh and healthy, didn't flare up and dry out fast like what I normally get at the store.

Told the wife, I'm sold... will only be buying chicken breasts now from there on Tuesdays...

That was actually my first time in the store. I know they also have ground meat that's same price on Tuesdays. What else should I be going there to get? Anyone else have good experiences with that store? It's the one on St Charles Ave.

Yep. We buy them pretty much every Tuesday. It's some damn quality chicken.

They grind their meat in house, so try to go on ground beef sale day. I think it's Sundays ? May want to check.

Their deli chicken salad is pretty good as is their breads. I really like the brioche buns when they have them.

Also get some Sarah's salsa. It's the best store-bought salsa I've ever had. It's to the right if you enter from the parking lot, on the end in the case with the prepared salads and herbs and such.

The Fresh Market in BR has so much potential but they really need to get their deli department in order.

I once left a whole basket of groceries in front of the deli when there was no one working in there. Had tons of people in the front at the registers grabbing arse and doing nothing since everyone was being held up trying to get waited on in the deli.

I called and spoke to the manager, to inform him of the basket of groceries I left in the store and the reason why I left them. He had absolutely no fricks to give.

Seems like a jerk move leaving a basket of groceries at the deli because of impatience

Do you even read bro? I called the store as soon as I got to my car and spoke to the manager. I informed him of the basket first then informed him why.

No, impatience was not the reason why I left the store that day. I left because I felt strongly that a business as poorly managed as Fresh Market didn't deserve my money any longer. This wasn't the first incidence.

I was in line at Hot Doug's in Chicago with a basket full of groceries and was reading a thread on here about how much it blows, so I just left the basket right there in line and left.

BR Fresh Market got a new manager around Feb. of this year. The new guy is an arse and a jerk! He is not helpful and he has a look of "I don't give a shite".

I, as a customer, and some of the employees do not like him.

I believe you and all, but FM is the only place I buy meat, and I've always been waited on immediately. They even ask me several times if I'm ready when I'm just browsing.

OP: The Tuesday deals are really good.
I get all my meat from FM, unless I am in a pinch and need quick ground beef or chicken (which is pretty much never).
The steaks are damn good. They have bone-in ribeyes that we grill every couple weeks, and they're always perfect.
I get short ribs from there a decent amount too.

If you want an outstanding homemade burger, get them to grind you some brisket. They'll do however much you want. I got one cut in half and ground for me recently.

I think their little dessert case has a great variety, and saves you from having to do an Ambrosia/Baums stop if you ever get desserts.

Bread section is pretty good. I love that they always have both brioche and potato buns available when I make burgers.

Recently found this deal: In the hot/prepared section, they do 2lbs (which is like 20-25) buffalo wings. Mix and match sauces. With two pints of sides. And a huge loaf of blueberry cornbread. All for $18.

FM isn't my one-stop. Unfortunately, nowhere in this entire city is a one-stop for me. I come home red-faced-angry from grocery stores more often than Jones would like, I'm sure. But it definitely has a lot to offer.

Just don't go looking for shallots ;) They don't have those.

EDIT: Your name says Houston, your location says NOLA. So I don't know where you are. But the #1 draw to FM for me here in BR is that nobody seems to go. I don't think I've ever parked farther than the 3rd spot, and there aren't idiots breathing down my neck so they can gawk at the "specialty" items as is the case at WF and TJs.

Stopped in Mandeville on the way home yesterday to get the 2.99 deals on chicken and ground chuck. Will be cooking them shortly.

Rarely go to Fresh Market because it's out of the way, but I was impressed. Service was outstanding. Definitely will make this a regular stop.

Don't know if ours is different but the Fresh Market in Lafayette doesn't sell prime grade steaks....that's why I go to Rouse's for that.

We do a lot of shopping at FM because it's a 1 minute drive from my house though.

We have them in BR.

Jones and I rarely buy them. But we have before.

The difference between premium choice and prime is probably not even noticeable to you and I. I'd rather save the money. Prime might be better suited for a steakhouse with better equipment

Wife does this every Tuesday, it helps that it's walkable from our house.

OT Baller in River Ranch

I ship at Fresh Market frequently. Every Tuesday I'm there getting 3 or so lbs of chicken. The ground chuck is also on sale those days.
I tale advantage of their shrimp and salmon sales often too.
I like their frozen veggies. I do alot of meal prepping and that makes it easier for me. Plus their frozen stuff still tastes great.
I second what R2R said about the salsa.
Their deli is clutch sometimes when I'm in a bind for a meal. I love their wings.
Honestly, I spend a ton of money there. Not because they are pricey, but because I'm obsessed with grocery shopping.

I hate that the store doesn't open until 10:00 on Sunday mornings. I guess ballers sleep in or go to church before grocery shopping. Us po folk like to get our shopping done early.
