The talking heads on TV are talking about "severe injuries" that Peterson inflicted and that he was "beating" his son, etc... making it sound like he was beating the crap out of his son with his fists.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't we talking about some pretty minor injuries like welts and bruises?

I mean, he certainly took it too far... but is it just me or are they making it seem like he Ray Rice'd his son and are trying to equate the two incidents?

To clarify:

I was simply talking about the very specific segment of this relating to the actual physical injuries.

You can describe the abuse as severe, disturbing, or any other number of words. But the actual physical injuries itself are not severe injuries.

They hurt, they sting, it's mental and physical abuse, it's wrong, it's disturbing, etc. I agree with all of that.

But I was talking specifically about the actual injuries sustained. In essence, they are red marks.

I'm talking about the people who say Peterson caused "serious and severe injuries". Well, no.. he didn't. The abuse itself can be described as serious and severe. The injures are not.

They are talk shows. They thrive on controversy.

the kid was 4.

if he had been 12 I doubt people would care as much.

if you have to beat a 4 year old to the point you are breaking the skin and making him bleed via switch you kind of suck arse at keeping your kid in check.

I haven't seen people acting this way.

I've seen people discussing when discipline goes too far.

So you think it is ok for adults to physically harm a 4 year old?

I know the kid was 4. But welts still aren't "severe injuries".

That's beside the point when talking about specific injuries.

I understand he was 4.

People are acting like he broke his face.

Yes, he took it way too far and caused some welts, broken skin, etc. And even though it's wrong, and you can say disturbing, the injuries are not serious.

Because he was violently beating a helpless kid.

It's the same arguments over and over though.

"My grand pappy whooped my arse, and I'm fine"

"Pussification of America"

to

"It's a black thing, ALL BLACK'S DO IT!"

"AP should never play in the league again, and be thrown in jail for 30 years".

Rationality gets thrown out the window, and whomever calls eachother the most names and is the loudest wins.
