I'm a much bigger fan of the insanely hot/creamy version served by a local tacqueria here than the straight tomatillo variety but i like both.

Trader Joe's is pretty good.

Herdez green in the glass jar. I don't like the creamy/oily stuff.

I only ever find it to be okay. Still prefer red salsa.
Tomatillo sauce, on the other hand
The one at Mestizo on the pork dish is amazing.

Never tried the top version. It is really easy to make. Always better after a night in the fridge.

I'm already planning to grow a tomatillo plant on the back patio next spring.
Salsa Verde is my favorite.

I grew a few several years ago. They're huge...they spread and spread, quite vining in habit. Allow way more space than you think you'll need.

Restaurants that make it use color to mimic tomatillo/avacado/cilantro's natural color. If I made it with and w/o out and you looked at it you would swear the green one was better. However, if you couldn't see either you would not know the difference.
