So it's safe to say that SJB is not worthy of a 2nd rounder?

I think we've established that PRob is the worst CB in the NFL.

so how is it SJB can't see the field? There are plenty of other rookie CBs playing in the league.

Yes, I believe draft picks are fully evaluated in terms of worth after two games.

Especially when they don't play.

Any evaluation that makes him worse than PRob is a poor one.

He's a project.
Like Armstead.

Armstead wasn't ready until late in the season.

It had nothing to do with how badly Brown was playing.

I love how every high draft pick we have has to be a project and cooks is the only exception that i can think of in the payton era. I think it's documented good enough that as long as Payton is here the defense will generally suck because of his lack of good judgment on defensive players in the draft

I think he is a project who was overdrafted. The biggest concern is not his physical skills, but moreso his instincts. His ball skills are not good. That is concerning.

He's a project.
Everyone knew he was a project when we drafted him.
Everyone knew he wouldn't see the field except potentially in a dime or prevent situation.
Everyone knew he wouldn't be a potential starter for at least a year or two.
If you didn't know this, shame on you for not paying attention during the draft.

He's the ONLY second rounder in the league who has been a healthy scratch.

Think about that one for a minute...

Using a 2nd round pick for a "project" that may never pan out is kinda stupid, IMO.

Not completely true. Brown's performance was bad enough to negate what doubt Payton had about Armstead starting. Would Armstead have started if Brown had held his own that game? Probably not.

THIS. 2nd round draft picks should be potentially immediate playing time picks. If you want to take someone like oh lets say Tavon Rooks in the 6th as a gamble then go for it

To be fair, I would probably not have wanted to see SJB thrown into the fire on the road against the Falcons or Browns. As crummy as P-Rob is, you gotta put the veteran weakest link out there in that situation, over the unproven rookie weakest link.

Come to think of it, this upcoming Adrian Petersen-less Vikings game with Matt Cassel, could be just the sort of game that might be good to work a rookie CB in, and introduce him to the pro game. Cassel is not going to be throwing any lasers or bombs, he's pretty inaccurate on deep stuff, and it will all be happening at a nice, slow tempo and very straightfoward, with nothing too flashy or deceptive. So that when either P-Rob or SJB gets endlessly picked on, they will usually know it is coming well in advance and have a chance to react or adapt to it. The Vikings without AP at home in the Dome, that's kind of more our speed.

I wish I could go back to pre draft talk.

Cooks is nice and all but even back then I kept saying we needa go cb early and often.

This whole next draft:

cb,lb,cb,cb,cb,lb,T

ETA: I'm not saying cooks wont be boss bc it seems he will, but can he play D or convince SP to run the ball over 30 times on the road when we are showing extreme success?
