Isnt they way they played for most of the game, but tr last drive. Whether ryan's defense has been good or bad, the one constant has been that in crunch time they are pretty much o for infinity. Last year, great defense until the last drive against the patriots, panthers, eagles and this year at the end of the 1st half and regulation against atl and in the last drive for cleveland.

I guess he gets credit for the 1st game of the season last year

Thats the annoying part for me. For most of the game, the def played well.

Is everything. Worst defense I have ever seen an NFL team put on the field. And the stats pretty much support that.

Keep in mind, this is against a pathetic offense with their two best players out (Cameron / Gordon).

We suck, plain and simple.

Get 5 yards for the first down and defense can rest on their butt and you win the game.

Sadly, it's not something new. The offense definitely had a lot of blame for what happened last season and now, but in more than half of our road losses, the defense gave up late game drives with a lead (Carolina, New England, Atlanta, and now Cleveland) and none of them were short field drives.

In the end, he is a horrible late game defensive coach and it is because he plays soft defenses at critical times. Ryan has a history of this, and I don't see it any time soon.

you are taking a small part of the game and giving it much more importance than the rest of the game. in nearly every loss going back to last year the defense gave up less than 20 points. over the course of the game the offense would look like dogshit and we would give the ball to the other team and usually fail to put the other team away late in the game.

Meh, In the 1st half, our offense gave the browns a short field everytime because they couldn't move the ball. Our defense did what they could with what they had.

Then our offense gave the Browns 7 points on that pick 6.

Then, not only could our offense not convert a late 3rd down on that last drive, but Brees takes a sack that puts us out of FG range.

If we want to talk about crunch time, how about Brees and this offense not converting and blowing our chances at a FG?

We make that FG, the Browns need a TD to win, which they most likely don't get and we win the game.

Defense allowed 20 points and barely 300 yards, and we are giving Brees a pass for his offense's sub par performance.

Agreeed - the offense had chances to ice each of those games and failed.

the disapointing thing about this defense is that we spent a frick ton of money and blew up our cap to squeeze out the last years of brees's contract on a fricking safety and our D goes to shite after the signing

The defense is a problem every year. Seems like every year we bring in people and focus on the defense but they all turn out to be duds. They hold us back every year.

Are Jordan and Gallette still trying to come up with cool nicknames for the defense? Cuz I have a few colorful suggestions.

Also agree about the offense. The first half our offense looked like they were playing Seattle's defense or something. Couldn't do shite

Disappointing thing about this defense is...

Every fricking thing. No pass rush, no run D, no secondary. I especially like how it is worse than the worst fricking defense I ever had to live through - the 2012 Saints.

Ya, that's the disa fricking pointing thing about this defense.
