Why in the hell has the US given almost $87 billion in aid to Saudi Arabia in the last 4 years?

Would be cheaper in the long run to invade, secure their oil fields, pump them dry, and then leave to let them eat sand. Once the petro dollars dry up, ME countries are seriously fukked because they have absolutely nothing else, 'cept maybe the Iranians with pistachios.
