I feel like 5-10 years ago they would have rolled them out and played. Am I wrong?

The 1994 Alabama-Ole Miss game had lightning striking just outside the stadium before they put it into a weather delay.

Monitoring of lighting has improved in the last decade with new technology coming out. I think it's always been at the official's discretion, they just monitor it differently now.

Who doesnt remember 1997 Ohio State-Purdue aka "The Lightning Game" Eddie George was struck twice in the first half, went to the locker room under his own power, came back early in the 4th and scored two TDs to win it.

Yep. That's my point. Lightning delays seem to have increased in the last 5-10 years. So an example of a lightning delay within the last 10 years only makes my point. He was trying to troll but ended up making my point for me.
