We've been trotting out our favorite old Deke banners, but does anyone remember some of the outrageous yearbook pics they used to (and maybe still do?) put in Gumbo?
The one that stands out to me was one pic a guy took all done up in blackface, wearing an LSU helmet, jersey and shoulder pads, curling a football in one hand and holding a boom box on his shoulder. The name given was "Garry James".
Think that'd fly today? lol

I saw one where they had one of the members bring the house cook into the picture and it said "Salt n' Peppa." The cook was black.

The fact that your brain makes a connection between a black person and a boom box tells me that you harbor impure and dangerous thoughts. My brain makes no such connection. In fact I'm not sure what I'm writing now since my brain has made no such connection...

I'm pretty sure it was the DKEs who were written up by the Fire Marshal or some campus regulatory nazi group because the windows of the house were too dirty to see into so they simply broke out the glass of the windows rather than clean them.

Don't know that pics were taken, but I've heard tell that once, they rolled their house mother up into several mattresses and threw her off the 2nd floor of their house. This would have been mid 80's.
Y'all can say what you want about them trying too hard/however you'd choose to phrase it, but you've got to admit, they do go hard at times.

What I want to know is whether the old story about having an event where Santa was to parachute out of a helicopter at a shopping center parking lot and they pushed a Santa suit filled with dogfood out and rigged the chute to malfunction true? Or was that TKE?
