Landrieu internal review reveals 43 trips inappropriately funded

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) found that over $33,700 in campaign flights were inappropriately charged to her official account in an internal review of her finances released Friday. The report is sure to draw added scrutiny to her use of charter planes just as her main opponent, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), is set to introduce a resolution meant to highlight such spending, which he calls a "waste of Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars." The review, which was released four days after her self-imposed deadline of Sept. 8, found that the senator took 43 trips, which amounted to 136 campaign functions, that were paid for by funds meant for official business only. Eleven percent of the total amount Landrieu’s office paid for chartered flights should have been paid out of her campaign funds, the review found. Landrieu’s office said she fully reimbursed the Treasury with campaign funds and has notified the Senate Ethics Committee of the errors. She also said in a statement that she’s implemented a new bookkeeping system to prevent similar errors from happening again. "The review I ordered last month found these mistakes stemming from sloppy book keeping. I take full responsibility. They should have never happened, and I apologize for this," Landrieu said. "A new system has been established that has been successfully used by a number of senate offices to provide a safeguard from this happening in the future."

It's not going to matter. She will be re-elected by the idiotic voters of LA and the cycle will continue to repeat itself. Cassidy has no backbone and will split the vote. I don't want either of them representing me as my state senator.

If she can't get over 50% in the Primary, she's gone.

Don't be so sure. The D's will have a ton of special interest money on their side and will be able to buy the December runoff, especially with no other races to divert resources.

She might get beat, but this report will have nothing to do with it.

With all that tax payer money pissed away, too bad she couldn't hold a town hall
Meeting in the New Orleans area to see what her constituents thought about obamacare before she voted for it.

She did have a town hall meeting in New Orleans- in her mom and dad's basement. Everyone attending favored Obamacare.

I can't believe Cassidy is letting her get away with the commercial where she accuses him of gutting Medicare and forcing people to buy coverage with higher premiums and fewer benefits.
She's literally attributing her own voting record to him. He needs to answer that ad yesterday.

Once again, only after they are found out do they apologize and repay us our pilfered tax dollars.

He has no backbone. Romney took his gloves off after the first debate in 2012 and see where it got us. Cassidy won't even commit to open debates with LA's Queen Slut to smear her record in her face. He can't be trusted to speak for his constituents as far as I'm concerned.

Why would Cassidy commit to a debate when he is getting attacked from both ends?
This is where Maness really hurts this race. Why debate when you're going to get attacked from both ends? You can't win a 2 on 1 debate....

FACT:
In Louisiana dead people can legally vote so long as they cast their absentee ballot while they are still alive.
The reason we have this law is because death records don't automatically cross out your voter registration - and before the law the effect was only that the folks who were famous enough to be recognized by the person counting the absentees would have theirs thrown out.

So I have you on record as supporting a big government database that would require additional regulation and spending? I'm not sure we need that much intrusion on our daily lives.
