After a year’s reprieve, up to 250,000 Virginians will receive notice by the end of November that their health insurance plans will be canceled because the plans do not comply with the Affordable Care Act and accompanying state law.

The affected policyholders were allowed to renew their old plans late last year, even though the plans did not provide all of the benefits required under the health care law, but they won’t have that option when the policies expire this year.

Hope they all show up to Rex's house in Virginia Beach, and take a crap on his lawn.

Doug Gray, executive director of the Virginia Association of Health Plans, said the notices will give policyholders the option to buy health plans with similar coverage that comply with federal and state insurance law.

What the hell did you guys expect? I don't see the outrage here. What are the cost implications?

Obama has proposed to give states and insurance carriers the option of extending existing, noncompliant policies through 2017, but the Virginia Bureau of Insurance says it doesn’t have the option under state law to allow continuation of policies that don’t meet the new requirements.
An attempt by Gov. Terry McAuliffe to give consumers the option of continuing those policies under the president’s plan died in the House of Delegates this year, and a Senate committee killed proposals that would have allowed insurers to sell new policies that don’t comply with the law.

So the State Republicans are actually causing them to lose their policies? LULZZZZZzzzzzzzz

Pretty much, exactly what's happened and continues to happen. Folks that are or were happy with the insurance plans they chose (like me), will have those policies cancelled and FORCED to accept policies with coverages not needed. At a MUCH higher rate and with a lot less benefits and higher deductibles.

Yes. They're just "adjusting" your costs. Upward.

I mean forward.

When this happened to me this year, the health care "options" were a 250% increase. Small price to pay, because I need that maternity coverage, what with my penis and what not.

I do. To the tune of a 58% increase in premiums and 300% increase in deductibles over what I had. And I have the "Gold" plan now. It's worse than what I had when I paid less and had lower deductibles.

Almost sounds like some people would rather look out for their political party than use an easy solution that many other states already have. Maybe that's just kicking the can down the road, but ACA isn't going anywhere.

Look, our health insurance in this country is a complicated mess of inefficient bureaucracy and in some cases outright corruption that leads to people not getting the coverage they need. The only sensible solution was to get the government more involved.

Typical lib response to a quarter of a million people being forced to buy something they already had by the federal government. What will be the next thing I am forced to buy without paying a penalty tax? Electric car, solar panel, etc.? I also wonder what the average person out of that 250K will be paying for these new and better plans. More or less? I think I know.

You call a temporary reprieve a "solution"?
