GC, you're still at Hamburg, right? They're awesome to play with on FIFA. Love their kits, the fact they've got a real stadium, and they used to have some good young players to build around.

Yep. Last year they wanted me to qualify for CL, I got into Europa. This year, they want me to WIN Europa and wualify for CL. I do love their kits, though. Hertha Berlin plays in the Olympic stadium and that looks AWESOME on the game. When I took over, they had a few players worth keeping, but I've really overhauled the group. None of the strikers I have were here when I started. Zelalem is my starting CAM - I bought him after I found out that Van der Vaart was retiring at the end of his contract. I've pretty much replaced the entire back line with new players. My RM is still here from when I arrived. And one of my CDMs is a holdover. But I did a massive overhaul.

What is really strange is one of my youth players i brought up this year. Barca took on loan. Is this the twilight zone? Barca taking Coventry players on loan.

He was a 66 at just 16, i have a feeling he will come back at 70 something.

Yeah, Bayern Munich took one of my young stikers on loan last season too. Really weird. Not sure if he even improved any while there.

I'm still thinking about Hertha as a team. Bayer might be too good for me to start with.

Yeah, Bayer is pretty stacked talent-wise. Hertha is up in the top tier of the Bundesliga in my game (maybe I'm in the year 2020 now....not sure). But the Olympic stadium is sweet. Making a goal kick with the Olympic torch off in the distance is

Yeah, I jumped over to them today...it's gonna be a grind, but the first few matches have been promising. Bought Johannsson, Hamid and Andy Najar. #CONCACAFTHUNDER

So last week I'm playing with the Daggers (Dagenham and Redbridge) and come up against City in the FA Cup. Joe Hart takes out my striker in the 1st minute and City have to finish with 10 men. 3-1 victory for the Daggers.

I felt a little bad because it's unrealistic for City to lose to such an inferior team, but then this weekend happened.

Lol not even comparable.

Middlesbrough is like +25 in goal differential in the Championship and will probably be in the Prem next year.

Really late in my career mode and a guy I've had for a few seasons, whose name is Pontus Olsson and was 25 and an 87 overall (I think he is Ibra's regen), just sold to PSG. They offered me $79 mil for him and just messing around I countered with $125 mil and those bastards matched it.

Europa matches against Besiktas.....they get awarded three penalties in the 2 games! luckily, I only lose 3-2 in Tukey but get a 2-1 victory at home to advance. Then I dispatched of Udinese who brought Clint Dempsey off the bench. Next up, Liverpool.

Also, frick Manuel Neuer still.

Bayern was just bounced from CL by Spurs and they now lead City 2-0 after a match.

Spurs are the most over-powered team that really isn't that good at all in the game. However, I'm looking forward to the January update. I've never looked at Harry Kane's overall before, but I'm assuming it's high 60's low 70's starting off. It should start at an 80 with the way he's playing this season.

Just got a (it's 2019) 6'2", 18 y/o ST from Portugal, 90+ in speed, accel, agil, and stamina. His shot power, curve, long shot, and FK acc are all 80+, and his finishing is 74. I offered a season long loan with the option to buy at €3M and Porto accepted. Turns out he's a 77 and after 1 game he's now a 78. I think they accepted because he only had 6 months left on the contract. I hadn't scouted but was pretty sure he was good.

Are they really? Is that what it does when I connect to the servers? I thought the only big update they had so far was the facial scan one. Regardless, I'm talking about the one they usually do after the January transfer window. I'm looking forward to seeing if they change Zelalem's nationality on there and also seeing a few players overalls adjusted. I hate Liverpool but I bought Sterling in my current MM and after six years he's only an 82. I find that hard to believe.

Let's talk scouting and youth squads. Do you guys scout specific players from specific teams? Do you make several sets of instructions and hope the scouts get you some good talent? Do you get picky or do you stay broad in what you're looking for?

I've figured out pretty much the science between the type of player you scout for in your youth squad and what that you want. For forever the only fullbacks or any youth squad players I was getting would be 85-90's overall but their speed and stamina were always shiite. I've played around with it and every playing style and know what to tell my youth scout for now regarding what type of player I want skill set/athletic abilities. I also always have a TON of people on my youth squad and then will ship a few of them per transfer window to FC Dallas so they get playing time. I just enquire about some random FC Dallas guy who plays the position of my youth squad player and then send the youth squad player over in the deal and just cut the FC Dallas player. I do this just whenever my squad is packed and I can't get them playing time. I'd say about 40% of the ones I send over actually hit their potential 84-94 and it's funny to check the standings later on and see FC Dallas just wrecking the MLS every season.

There's always a few guys I go after in every manager mode (but in 15 the progression is somwhat random unlike in past years and I won't always sign these guys) including Gerard Deulofeu (fast), Kevin De Bruyne, Marquinhos, Alan Halilovic, Timo Werner, Raheem Sterling to name a few.

When it comes to scouting for some reason I'm extremely OCD when it comes to not having any players other than maybe a GK late in the MM over the age of 30, so I never scout for a player over that and rarely sign anyone older than 25-26. I like almost all of my players to be pacey so I always search for that.

Rant over haha

I use SoFIFA a ton when I'm searching for a specific type of player to fit my list of criteria...stuff that the scouts can't necessarily find.

When I'm looking for some backups or young players to build up my reserves (with the amount of teenagers in the database, I'd rather scout and sign real guys before the generated dudes, at least for the first few seasons), I go with the game's scouts. I'm super picky on what kind of player I'm looking for, usually, because I don't want to have to sort through a ton of useless players the scouts find.

When I'm down between two or three players for one spot on my roster, I usually check SoFIFA for their potential ratings.

I used FifaFanatic for years before this year's edition. I can't decide if I like the random progression or not. It was cool watching Deulofeu get to a 92 in one MM and, but in that same one Max Meyer was a 75 overall when I got him and was a 75 seven years later when I sold him along with Marquinhos who only grew to an 81 overall by the time I sold him when he was 30.

Probably the most random I've gotten was Luciano Vietto, I think every site I looked at had his potential at 86-88 somewhere and he was slow at progressing at first but he eventually hit a 92 overall.

I do the former when I'm scouting broad, and when I'm getting really picky I narrow the search criteria and see what they get me. It's worked out thus far.

So do you then buy your old player back or something? I'm confused.

From my research ( A LOT of trial and error, nothing fancy) I've found thatif you go to your scouting network and say you want a forward then there are two ways to go about it. Do you want a pacey forward? Or say someone who is taller and has better finishing? If it's pace you want then you search for a "winger". The results that I get every time are either a LW, RW, LB or RB and they're always quick, but they are usually shorter. An "attacker" is what you would go for if you want a taller/natural forward who won't be that fast (the fastest true striker I've gotten out of my youth academy got up to a 78). I always used to search for "defensive minded" players for my LB's and RB's,, but they were always slow. That's just one example, you can play around with the others.

Yes, that's exactly what I do. Obviously if you're a smaller club this may not be possible, but my favorite team is City so the funds are there. I'll scout my players and once I promote them then you have to wait one transfer window before you can sell them, as I'm sure you know. When that passes then say I have a 72 overall 17-year-old CAM and a 70 overall 17-year-old RW, then I'll go to FC Dallas (I live in Texas) and I'll approach to buy a CAM and a RW and offer usually only a couple thousand dollars and the young player. Once it goes through then I cut the FC Dallas player and I add the guys I just gave to FC Dallas to my shortlist and I'll scout them once a year and when they're good enough IMO then I'll purchase the back. It can bite you in arse though if you don't have funds. I sent a CAM there in my current MM and when I tried to buy him back when he was a 82 overall 21-year-old they wanted $65 million for him. It's basically your own youth squad. The MLS teams work really well because for some reason there are never transfers over there, or no European teams will purchase them, or at least in my experience. One catch though, you can only cut two players I think each season, so unless you want a bunch of scrubs on your side riding the pine only do a couple per season. I've had success with this method, but I also scout the crap out of a lot players and some hit really well and others will never materialize.

I know it sounds kind of like a cheap way to do things, but unless a youth squad player is above a 75+ I'll send him off. I think we can all agree that it's really dumb when you find a player that is say an 18-year-old 63 overall with a potential of 89-94. If he improves +3 overall every season for 7 season then he'll only get to an 84. I sent one of those off in my current MM and I purchased him back when he was 22 and an 81 overall. It saved me a lot of trouble of having to send a guy out on loan and possibly not improving or having to play with a really crappy player for 3-4 seasons.
