Tonight I would like to talk about the influence of special interests on our nation’s immigration system. How did we get to the point where elected officials, activist groups, the ACLU, and global CEOs are openly working to deny American workers the immigration protections to which they are legally entitled? How did we get to the point where the Democratic party is prepared to nullify and wipe away the immigration laws of the United States of America?

quote:

In effect, the entire Senate Democratic conference has surrendered the jobs, wages, and livelihoods of their constituents to a group of special interests meeting in secret at the White House. They are surrendering them to executive actions that will foist on the nation what Congress has refused to pass and the American people have rejected. They are plotting at the White House to move forward with executive action no matter what the people think and no matter what Congress — through the people’s House — has decided.

quote:

No, White House officials are meeting with the world’s most powerful corporate and immigration lobbyists and activists who think border controls are for the little people. The administration is meeting with the elite, the cosmopolitan set, who scorn and mock the concerns of everyday Americans who are concerned about their schools, jobs, wages, communities, and hospitals. These great and powerful citizens of the world don’t care much about old-fashioned things like national boundaries, national sovereignty, and immigration control — let alone the constitutional separation of powers.

Somebody has to say it, but unfortunately, many on here also desire open borders.

Open borders would be ideal in an ideal world, but in the entitlement society we live in, open borders would be national suicide.

I'm not sure I agree with this statement when it comes to Sessions. Maybe he is, but I haven't seen anything from him that would make me vote against him.

Illegals are attracted by jobs not welfare.

Welfare is not the only entitlement. Also, they have a competitive advantage when seeking jobs because they can work for less than minimum wage and employers need not pay for health insurance for them, undercutting the compensation required for citizens. This is creating an artificial demand for illegal labor and suppressing citizens from finding employment. Allow citizens to work for less than minimum wage and illegal will face a more level playing field (that they would probably win on due to their superior work ethic)

This is certainly true for some. It's silly to think this is true for all.

No way! We need to increase the minimum wage! That will help Americans make more money and keep illegals from taking the jobs instead!

There is no doubt we have a surplus of IT workers. The question is whether the supply is two or three times as big as the number of job openings.

Corporation X outsources the core of its IT functions to a company called Blandersen. During the transition, Blandersen pays all incumbent IT personnel an additional yearly salary if they stay with the company. Another Blandersen division is involved in a huge accounting scandal, so its IT division splits off and is renamed Lacksenchur. The operation continues to run smoothly with the only real difference being who cuts the checks for the IT guys.

Lacksenchur begins offshoring IT duties to Mumbai where there are very smart people willing to work for much less than the Americans who teach them how to do their jobs. One sticking point is the Indians don't have much loyalty to the company and are willing to walk across the street for a $2k raise. Since it takes almost a year for a new IT worker to become proficient, the resulting spectacular turnover rate becomes a very real crisis.

Lacksenchur's solution? Move the Indians to the US for an incentive. Unfortunately, the Indians soon discover their upperclass Mumbai salary will only pay for a 1 bedroom shack in New Jersey. Lacksenchur eventually starts paying the Indians a salary equivalent to what they were previously paying their American employees, and the circle is complete.

Company X is one of those entities meeting with BHO Jangles.
