It's a start

don't see much of this type coverage.

quote:

“This is obviously a criminal act which we greatly denounce,” Maha Akeel of the Saudi-based Organization of the Islamic Conference told Al Arabiya News, voicing the same condemnation the group issued when ISIS released a video of the execution of U.S. journalist James Foley.

quote:

On Tuesday, the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, published a statement on its website saying: “No words can describe the horror, disgust and sorrow felt by Muslims in America and worldwide at the unconscionable and un-Islamic violence perpetrated by the terror group ISIS. The criminal actions of ISIS are antithetical to the faith of Islam.”

Good. Let's get some of the more high-profile leaders to follow their lead. I think this is important, "mainstream" Muslims actually taking a hardline stance.

I'm pretty sure every single high profile Muslim leader condemn ISIS including the head of Egypt's Sunni clerk.
We know that majority of muslims are against ISIS, the issue is with the minority that supports them

I'm glad you pasted that. You'd think that a lot more of the "moderate" Moose limbs would be speaking out. I'm always shocked at how quiet they are.

This guy seems to speak for a lot of Muslims.

quote:

“We can’t call them an Islamic group, but a criminal one,” she explained, emphasizing Al-Azhar’s online campaign, which urges people and news outlets to stop calling ISIS Islamic.

Al-Azhar is the top Islamic authority in Egypt and it is also highly revered by many Muslims worldwide.

Former Deputy Imam of al-Azhar Sheikh Mahmoud Ashour told Al Arabiya News that Sotloff’s killing was not only against humanity but “there is no religion that accepts the killing of a human soul.”

Ashour cited a verse from the Quran saying “Do not kill any soul, which God has made forbidden, except in just cause.”

He added: “The soul includes any soul whether Muslim or non-Muslim, therefore [their act] is violating God’s will and violating what Prophet Mohammed has brought.”

“The human soul is sacred and protected in Islam,” he stressed, describing Islam as “innocent” of such wrongdoings.

I think he needs to clarify his stance on Jihad.

I really don't think so. All religious leaders and heads of state? I know there's been a wellspring of condemnation, unlike there was for al-Qaeda, but I don't think it's universal

Most Islamists don't see any value in killing journalists which is probably one of the reasons why Al Qaeda disowned them. They need journalists to get their message out and, before 9/11, Osama Bin Laden even granted a one-hour-long interview to ABC, so that Americans could learn about Al Qaeda. Both Hamas and Hezbollah maintain good relations with Mideast journalists, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass can go into Gaza and get Hamas interviews whenever she wants.

EDIT: ISIS doesn't seem very strategic in its thinking, but this is the same Islamist group that kills more Muslims than Infidels, so I guess this is par for the course for them.

Well, let's be fair. Christians believe that killing is OK in just cause. IE, if a burglar is breaking into your home it's OK to kill him.

We killed a LOT of Nazis and Japanese in WWII.

The problem is that the Jihadists since the 1960s (Said and Qtub) believe that the existence of Western Culture = Invasion of a foreign army and therefore deserve to be killed to protect Islam.

Many Americans Want to Know Why Muslims Aren’t Condemning ISIS
quote:

ABC News’ Laura Ingraham, Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Fox & Friends and other U.S. media commentators say that Muslims are silent and complicit in the barbarian crimes of ISIS. Fox News host Andrea Tantaros said that all Muslims are the same as ISIS, and implied that all Muslims should be met “with a bullet to the head”.

Why don’t we hear Muslims condemning the barbarian ISIS terrorists?

Turns out they are loudly condemning ISIS … but our press isn’t covering it.

You can read the rest here. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Great pic. Thanks. Reminds me of the diaries of the Civil War where both sides were convinced that God was on their side.

I was privileged to see the last minutes of the Centenary faculty meeting notes from 1860 written in ink "Students have gone to war. God help the right."

They did not assume which side was right.

Aren't most groups (even those fighting against us) condemning them?

And the reason Muslims are condemning ISIS is that ISIS is killing Muslims. If they were just killing Jews or Christians, you'd hear far less condemnation. You'd still hear some. Just a lot less.

There were condemnations all along. It's never shown on the media though.
