The Stand. Better material to work with.

The Stand was full of top flight acting talent - it was just a little bit cheesy in spots, but it marks a true quality product for television at the time.

And it has aged a little (but it was well after the original story, so, honestly, it looked a felt a little dated at the time) - but it was one of the best television miniseries of its time.
