they have all week to finalize the tentative deal in place...just hammering out a few details.

he has a good chance to play

hope RR is preparing for him because while I love my fantasy team, they're #3 in the rotation behind Saints and Greenwave

Going back and changing suspensions doesn't seem like an NFL thing to do....

the new drug testing agreement would raise the threshold and wipe out his suspension

no injunction, no nothing...he can play

then how come they didn't use new ray rice domestic violence threshold to change ray's suspension?

b/c the NFLPA didn't negotiate for it. NFLPA is the one pushing for this in the agreement

And he's about to get suspended, possibly for the year. He lied to the furor

He'll play high too, I'm sure.

Either way, I'm grabbing him in all the leagues I can.

No. The only way he is unsuspended is if the NFL agrees to make the changes retroactive. This has not been discussed yet. There is always a chance they will decide not to make the changes affect past suspensions, only future ones. In fact, it could be a big issue for them to lift past suspensions because they could end up with a lot of players who demand compensation for games missed based on their failed tests that don't apply to the new criteria. It seems like it will be a lot easier for the NFL to just can the idea of retroactively applying the new rules.

The NFL is obviously going to have to break precedent and up the Ray Rice suspension. Maybe this opens the window for the NFL to back down a bit on Gordon?

Exactly this. He's suspended under old rules. They cannot go back and do that just for him. You would have others coming forward looking for the same deal and reclaiming lost wages if they would have passed the under the new testing limits. BS I say. Bye bye Gordon. Se ya next season.

The word is that players currently suspended will be applied to the new rules. This makes sense, since they are just suspended and the rules will be going into effect at this moment. It won't matter to those suspended in years past. This effect Jordan in Miami, Wes Welker, Gordon and a few others.

You haven't been following this then. The NFLPA has been clear that it is going to happen

Not sure it will help either Welker or Jordan since both were not in the same situation as Gordon and both weren't borderline positive on their drug tests.

it's been stated that it will, because they would fall into the first time offenders under the recreational policy rather than the PED one since it was during the offseason. They would not be suspended but entered into the drug program under the new agreement.
