Both our lines are disappointing so far

I kinda expected the dline to struggle but not the oline. I mean, we did okay last night but they're still not opening up the run lanes like they should. This needs to be fixed before we play SEC. Defense will be overrated just because the dline will struggle on teams. If you want to beat LSU do what Wisconsin did and run straight at them with a power run game. They can't stop the run. We're going to get ate up by teams like Bama if this isn't fixed soon. I'm not sure it ever will be this year. You either have the guys or you don't. Too much inexperience at DT and the DEs have been underachievers.

I don't know what's wrong with the oline. I guess it has a lot to do with chemistry and a new coach adjusting to his scheme. This is the one area I thought we'd be great at on offense when it looks like a concern right now. Not going to win many games if you can't control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball in the SEC. Nobody except South Carolina and Vanderbilt look bad in the SEC right now.

Did you type "are lines" on purpose? Please tell me you didn't.

Typo

But yeah, I think we'll really improve on offensive line as the season goes along and they adjust more. Defensive line I'm not so optimistic about. I think that's just going to have major growing pains in the middle. Hunter shows flashes but he reminds me of Vernon Golston(sp?) from Ohio State. Looks great without a shirt off and shows flashes but is never consistent. He did play much better last night which is a positive sign. I'll be much more optimistic if we play an SEC team and look that good doing it. Early season and we're playing a lot of young guys so it's good we have about a full month of preparation before we really get in the meat of our schedule.

The better we pass, the better we'll run

Hard to break long runs with 8 in the box

D - line will continue to get better

The major concern I have is DTs. Have they even made any plays the past 2 games? I don't know what Sam Houston's stats look like but it seemed like every time they ran up the middle they got at least 5 yards. Wisconsin gashed the hell out of us with Gordon. Any team in the SEC who has a good RB is going to give us fits. It's the same problem from last year where we can't stop the run.

DBs look amazing with or without RR in the secondary. Teams who want to throw the ball 75% of the time are playing into LSU's favor.

I really wish neal was heavier. This guy would be our best DLineman. he will get killed though against bigger SEC lineman.

Welter is a lot of the issue to....our LB's need to be making tackles in the holes and he struggles

Once Porter gets back, I think you'll see a HUGE difference. Dodd did ok, and Pocic was bad against Wisconsin, but he's young and out of position.

I think his presence will help everybody else on the line. He wasn't on the Remington watch list for nothing.

Worried about Neal's size as well and DT's are my biggest worry and have been all summer.

QB's and WRs making me feel a bit better. WRs may turn out to be a strength. I knew they had talent but they are playing well.

MG's injury had a lot to do with this.

None of our DTs have made a play yet this season

I agree. The O-line looked weak, especially considering the opponent, but once Porter is back at center an Pocic in competing where he should be, I think we'll be fine.

I still sat there last night and worried how weak our defensive center looked against SHS. I was really hoping we'd at least be dominant against a cupcake. How much better can they really get before we face SEC O-lines and running backs?

our oline looks bad because teams are stacking the box because we aren't spreading the field.

I'm watching replay again now and 91 made one tackle (runner ran right next to him). Shed the block and grabbed runner. Other than that, we look like we're wearing skates.

Good teams will gash us between the tackles unless we figure it out quickly.

My bigger concern is the lack of confidence in the young DT's.

He ran for like 70 yards on 1 carry in the second half and then he never saw the field again. If Gordon stayed in that game we most likely lose against Wisconsin because we had no answer against him. I'm pretty sure on the long run he gashed us straight through the DTs too.

he had 3 carries for 1 yard after that run, including a 2 yard loss on their last drive...

Folks, I'm not saying the o-line doesn't have things to work on, but once again, we ran a lot out of one and two receiver sets with a fullback. When we do, the defense crowds the box and brings numbers to stop the run. When we go to three receiver sets and force the defense to stretch out and put in a nickel corner, the box loosens and we generally run more effectively between the tackles.

Also, I think we make it harder than necessary by running the pitch dive and doing the hand motion behind the back. The hand motion telegraphs the run and the pitch dive helps defenders read the run immediately as opposed to a routine handoff, which at least sells the possibility of play action and gives defenders a split second to hesitate and read the play.

Are y'all fricking retarded?? They had 50 yds on 32 carries. At what point where we gashed? You cannot stop every damn play in the back field. Pull your heads out of your arse.

And we had over 300 yds rushing. What is enough for you people?
