Anyone been to the record stores here? I have some time to go looking today and wanted to see which ones would be worth the time. I can look at new, used, old, new, doesn't matter. Thanks

Yeah. Good Records on Lower Greenville is good.

Bill's was too chaotic for me, but I don't remember it too well.

Actually, I use to go there all the time in the early 90's. Haven't been in years. I don't live there anymore and when you asked the question, I had to look it up to see if it was still open. Back then it was cool, but don't know about now. Really surprised Bill is still alive.

Cantankerous ol queen.....he has moved from up north in richardson to south lamar in dallas. back in the day he was the only game in town for obscure stuff. But he never put prices on anything so you had to ask him. If he recognized you it was ok. If he didnt know you he would put a high price on stuff. Annoyed the hell out of me and is why I dont patronize his place anymore. frick Bill!

Bill always had some good stuff-but the no price tag was a turnoff for me. He always had some cute boys working for him though.

That seemed to be the biggest complaint in the reviews of his place is that people felt they were getting fricked on arbitrary pricing.

There's a new store opening at Josey and LBJ that's called Josey Records. It's supposed to be huge - about the size of a box store.

Hell yeah. Bought my very first vinyls yesterday and had a blast doing it. I always thought it was just a hipster thing to buy records but I can see why people love it. I can see myself spending hours upon hours in those stores.

The thing I like about Good Records is they have a lot of free in store performances and they sometimes have a free keg and hotdogs.

ETA: Good Records has a new outpost in Deep Ellum that also has local brews on tap.... LINK

Saw that on FB looks real legit. I like the deep Ellum area, it could've gone to shite but they have made it kinda artsy which is nice. I'll check out off the record for sure

This!! That guy tried to sell me $2 used records for full price. Never will I waste a day in there again. I can get the same shite on Discogs.com for cheaper and in better condition.

I keep hearing about Josey Records, which is in my neck of the woods. Any idea when it is supposed to open?

I like Dead Wax in Carrollton. It's right down the road from me, but it's a real small store. But the guy who runs it is rel nice and though the selection is small, it's the kind of stuff I like. When I'm just trying to kill time on the weekend, it's my go to store. Hope he can survive.

I've found the best selection and prices on good quality used vinyl at Record Hound in Denton and Half Price Books on Northwest Highway.

For new vinyl Good Records is hands down my favorite.

I've also pulled lots of great finds from the Salvation Army on Harry Hines at $2 a piece.

Very nice, can't wait till it opens. Dallas seems to have great options. I have only been going to Good Records so far since it's so close to my house but excited to try others.
