Cap number: $8.2 million

2019
Base salary: $7.3 million
Roster bonus 1: $500,000
Roster bonus 2: $500,000 ($31,250 per game active)
Workout bonus: $100,000
Escalator: $1.2 million with 12 sacks in 2014 and on 53-man, IR or PUP each week of prior season
Cap number: $8.4 million

Next year's numbers look high but they will be lowered when we convert his second roster bonus into a signing bonus stretched out over the final 5 years. That will save $10m of the $12.5m.

This is the same thing the will do with Byrd and may do with a few other guys(Lofton, Graham, and less likely Hawthorne).

Especially when you consider that his largest cap hit will be the final year at $10.9m(converting the roster bonus adds $2.5m to each year).

The cap numbers do go up slightly if he hits 12 sacks this year though:

quote:

2016
Roster bonus: $2.5 million (if he has 12 sacks in 2014 and on roster on 3rd day of league year)
Cap number: $8.3 million($10.8m with converted bonus)

2017
Roster bonus 1: $1.5 million (if he has 12 sacks in 2014 and still on roster on 3rd day of league year)
Cap number: $8 million($10.5m with converted bonus)

2018
Escalator: $1.3 million with 12 sacks in 2014 and on 53-man, IR or PUP each week of prior season
Cap number: $9.5 million($12m with converted bonus)

2019
Escalator: $1.2 million with 12 sacks in 2014 and on 53-man, IR or PUP each week of prior season
Cap number: $9.6 million($12.1m with converted bonus)

Without 12 sacks, but with a converted roster bonus:

quote:

2015
Cap number: $5.45 million

2016
Cap number: $8.3 million

2017
Cap number: $9 million

2018
Cap number: $10.7 million

2019
Cap number: $10.9 million
