Are things that bad or do I have SUCKER tattooed on my forehead...

Just got hit up for cash at the gas station for the 6th time in 10 days.
Seriously.
(note: not all were at the gas station... one was at Sam's and one was walking from my car to work)
Most of these in the posh Mandeville/Covington area gas stations.
Literally 3 of them were driving nicer vehicles than I have.
The "look" of the beggars was trailerish, but not meth-heady.
The frequency of this has increased tremendously... it used to be 2 or 3 times a month I'd get hit up.. not 6 in barely more than a week. I do gas up allot.

No, people with no pride just realized it's an easy way to make a buck because morons actually fall for their sob stories.

Back in college in Jackson, MS, there was this strung-out black fella that made daily rounds at all the downtown gas stations hitting people up for money. I ran into him one morning while grabbing coffee and threw him a couple bucks. Around lunchtime the same day, I was getting some gas a few miles away from where I first encountered him and he walks up spitting the same game. It blew his mind when I told him I already gave him some money that morning and he wanted to argue about it--said he never saw me before in his life. My response was "What, all us white people look the same to you, huh?" He told me I did have a point and took off.

There are several factions of scammers here in Dallas. I swear they must make bank because they rotate intersections. I have a beef with one of them.

I usually make them work for it. I ask them to get out in the middle of the parking lot show their best dance moves..it's worth a couple bucks to watch them embarrass themselves and lower themselves to the point of no pride in front of dozens of people.
I'll watch and laugh, then toss the money on the ground so they have to pick it up like a beggar.

That's the thing.. this is a different group.
I've sat and watched the red light hobos come and go in nice vans.
But this is people driving right up to the pump claiming they need money for gas or to get a room for the night or to get to XYZ city.

But I guess if they're willing to break it down in front of a stranger, they have no shits to really give in the first place.

That's really impressive. Of course, I suppose there are a lot of Miss St grads who need to do something to feel better about themselves.

Depends, our mission center (Nutbush area) is getting killed every time they open the doors right now. Every week more and more people are showing up asking for food or clothing. The people showing up aren't in fancy cars or fancy clothes.
The folks asking for money are just looking for money and really aren't in need.

This is my response every time I get asked, regardless of whether I have any or not. There are other ways to get the things they need than asking me for money.
