Week 1 College Football Overreactions

I think Oklahoma State and West Virginia are getting too much credit for their close losses vs. Florida State/Alabama. I still think these teams are flawed and are not as good as they appeared. Reminds me of how TCU battled LSU last year in a hard fought loss in Week 1, or Auburn losing to Clemson by only 7 in 2012, only to tailspin the rest of the way.
Michigan is getting too much hype for their takedown of Appalachian State. Had they beaten a no-name FCS team with no history they wouldn't get the respect they are getting. No deamons were exercised here - Appy State went 4-8 last year in FCS. It's not a statement win at all.
Local overreaction - Here in Cedar Rapids all the Iowa fans think their win over Northern Iowa was a massive statement win as if they beat a Top 10 team. Even the local radio/TV sports personalities are having a boner over the 8 point victory over an FCS team. They keep convincing themselves that Northern Iowa is a great team and beating them by 8 proves they are for real.
Texas A&M looked good vs. South Carolina but I still think we need to tap the breaks on them until we see whether or not USCe truly deserved that #9 ranking.
The Utah State team Tennessee beat wasn't that good. They lost too much from last year and will hover around bowl eligibility at best. Not the statement win Vol fans think it was.

How the hell did I forget Georgia... too much is being made of their win over Clemson. Was it a good win, yes, but let's wait and see if Clemson is any good. They lost major contributors from last year's Orange Bowl winning team.

Crazing rumblings in your brain does not equal "too much hype" for the mass media - of which, none exists anywhere, in any publications.

You think, boy genius?

It's all part of the script

As far as Georgia goes, I don't think it's an overreaction to say Todd Gurley is the real deal and may carry them very far this season. But on the other hand, still not sold that Hutson Mason is any good and the defense did look very suspect in the first half against a team that replaced basically their entire offensive squad.

The cajuns beat a football team from Baton Rouge and youd think in lafayette that they beat the Warhawks or something

I haven't really heard this in the media.
