Question/Favor

Preface this by saying I am an LSU alum, class of '84.
My son, however, is a senior at Bama. He wants to experience the tailgate experience at LSU before he graduates so, being the good dad that I am (right!), I told him I would bring him down this year. We will not be attending the game (good but not rich dad!).
So my question is this: best lot to park in with the best and most representative tailgaters....I am sure this will spark some heated debate. But we are all friends here...any help would be appreciated.

And you allowed this type of behavior?

Sad fact of today's higher education...Bama offered academic scholarship and LSU didn't. Not cheap to send a kid to school these days!

(good but not rich dad!).

Most of the good lots for tailgating are pay lots but up around the Parker Ag Center is still free. You will have to get there very early Sat morn (no later than 8AM)or even late Fri night to get a decent spot there

We were planning on a Friday night arrival. Thank you for that info. We will probably spend most of Sat. walking around to the various areas around the stadium....want him to get the full LSU experience!

Sounds like you don't make a lot of games.... so why not just pay $40 to park on campus between Highland and the Indian Mounds -- arrive as early as possible for Bama game day.
Do all the walking around and visiting with tailgaters you want. If you are unlucky enough NOT to get fed by folks --- hit the Student Union or the food trailers outside the PMAC.
As others said -- wait until kick-off or after around the stadium -- usuallly b/t stadium and tiger cage.... be patient -- the fewer buyers there are the more chance you have to get tickets and at a lower price.... so if you miss half the first quarter but get tickets a face value vs. having tickets before the game and paying a lot more -- is your choice. Of course there is always a chance you don't get tickets --- but you already said you weren't planning to go to the game due to cost of tickets...

If I was you, wear skool colors, son could wear red( ), and just walk around campus. Bring a cooler full of your favorite beverage, (preferably adult) and just engage folks along the way. Tell the cook how good the food smells, and you will get a taste of tailgating...
And for bama, it will be wild, over 250K on campus for that game day every time...

Trust me, I know the drill. I remember the scene around the stadium from when I was there (dorm room was in North Stadium..front row every week!). I will be sporting the colors, and my hard-headed son will be wearing his red! He just wants to get a feel for the best tailgating experience before he leaves Bama. Thanks all for the help/advise.

Your son sounds like a tool.
